Muslim Response USA is on the ground in Gaza and working with its partners to provide much needed food, water, hygiene & medical supplies, and essential non-food items to families affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis.  

Since Oct 7th, 2024 when conflict started, more than 39,800 Palestinians have died, with around 70 percent of them being women and children; more than 91,000 people are injured. In a latest attack, around 100 people were killed when a school building sheltering displaced families was bombed in Northern Gaza. Attacks on residential units and temporary shelters in Rafah have killed around 50 Palestinians and injured more than 250 persons. At least 35,000 children have lost one or both parents in attacks and about 32,000 have been injured with many in critical condition. According to the United Nations OCHA, 1.7 million Palestinians (75% of Gaza population) have been internally displaced and 1.1 million people are projected to face catastrophic levels of food insecurity in Gaza.  

Daily death rate in Gaza is higher than any other major 21st Century conflict; around 250 Palestinians are being killed per day with many more lives at risk from hunger, disease and cold. 

With increased restrictions to deliver vital humanitarian assistance to Palestinian families, aid agencies are warning of extreme hunger in Gaza. UN Humanitarian Affairs Chief has told the UN Security Council that “at least 576000 people in Gaza are one step away from famine”. 

The ongoing siege and conflict in Gaza has led to displacement of around 2 million Palestinians; hundreds and thousands are crammed into overcrowded shelters and hospitals, and are in desperate need for food, water, essential non-food items and medical & hygiene supplies.

The United Nations Humanitarian Office OCHA said in a statement that if there is a “hell on Earth, it is northern Gaza”. UNICEF says more than 700,000 children in Gaza have been “forced to leave everything behind” and reiterates the call for a ceasefire.

Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report released on December 23rd has confirmed that the entire population of Gaza – roughly 2.2 million people – are in crisis or worse levels of acute food insecurity and more than one in four households in Gaza currently face extreme hunger, and there is a risk of famine unless access to adequate food, clean water, health and sanitation services is restored. 

Large number of Palestinians were killed when two schools sheltering displaced families in Northern Gaza were attacked on Saturday, Nov 18th. 

The air raids have razed residential buildings and more than 50% of the housing units have been destroyed leaving more than 600,000 people homeless. It is the highest number of internally displaced Palestinians since the 50-day escalation of hostilities in 2014. Around 300,000 Palestinians are taking shelter in schools with scarce food, water and hygiene supplies.
