Good Tree Roots is a lending library established to grow community and offer resources to engage with the past to improve the present and lay the foundations for the future through various activities promoting diversity, scholarship, and community involvement. 

Good Tree Roots will offer the community:

A Library

• Curated selection of books, emphasizing diversity and Islamic values.
• Recommendations for avid readers, teachers, homeschoolers, and adults
• Book Club for middle school, high school, and adults
• Story time (English, Urdu, Arabic, and Spanish) with crafts and activities
• Author events for all ages
• A space to lounge, study, and participate in classes or workshops for teens and college students.
• A private room for book club, crafts, paint nights, game nights, life coaching, and yoga sessions among a few types of classes.

Support local businesses.  The physical space will allow for pop-up shops of small business owners from hand-made crafts to baked goods. Patrons will be able to enjoy books, coffee, gifts, and activities while socializing. 

Scholarships in a variety of fields. This will engage high school students in all academic fields based on which scholarship they choose. The Good Tree Roots scholarship program will be based on figures from history, which will expose those interested in Islamic heritage while using their skills to improve the present. Many experts have emphasized to begin thinking about college 5 years before applying, so this program will set high school students on the path to stand out and take part in their community.

  • Your funds will help us run monthly events and host authors. While most of our library will be populated through donations, we have a large and growing wishlist, which we hope to provide for our patrons by purchasing (and supporting) Muslim bookshops.
