• We need to raise $12,000 to install 18 solar panels which will help the school to use natural energy and save money.

Why Solar Energy?

Alhamdulillah, our school is located in the 'Tropical Zone' of Sri Lanka and is perfectly placed to benefit from the sunshine. Solar panels will therefore be the most efficient and cost effective method to use. At this moment in time the school suffers from regular power cuts. 

Installing solar panels will have many benefits including:

Green Deen?

In his book 'Green Deen' Ibrahim Abdul-Matin has a chapter in which he speaks about solar power:

"Solar Power is one example of energy from heaven. Solar power is as old as the Earth itself. It is plentiful, free, and possibly inexhaustible.

There is even a surah (chapter) in the Qur'an named after the sun, the Surat-ul-Shams, or Chapter of the Sun. It speaks in part to the sun's overwhelming importance and power.

Muslims believe that the power of the Qur'an gives understanding of the power of everything in God's creation. In thinking about how our imam's guide us when we're learning to read Qur'an, it occurred to me that we should similarly be seeking experts in alternative and renewable energy, engineers and product designers, to guide us in seeking how to gather energy from heaven."
