A Sister to the Community, Now in Need of Our Help

Why This Matters

Our beloved sister, friend, and community member Zahra is stranded in Dubai after falling gravely ill. She has spent weeks in the hospital recovering, but now faces over $100,000 in medical bills—and she will not be allowed to leave until the debt is paid in full. Her family is unable to cover this enormous cost alone, and we need your help to bring her back home for Ramadan.

Who She Is & Why We Love Her

If you’ve ever visited the Somali Mall, chances are you’ve met Zahra—whether she decorated your hands with henna for Eid, a wedding, or graduation, gave you a new piercing, or simply welcomed you into her shop with a smile. But her shop is more than just a business—it’s a safe space where women come for advice, encouragement, and sisterhood.

She is the kind of person who gives without asking for anything in return—always ready to help, uplift, and support others. Now, she is the one who needs us.

Stranded in Dubai with Overwhelming Medical Bills

During a trip to Dubai, Zahra became gravely ill and was rushed to the hospital, where she has remained for weeks. Alhamdulillah, she is slowly recovering, but her medical bills have now exceeded $100,000, and she will not be allowed to leave Dubai until they are paid in full.

Her family is unable to cover this enormous cost alone, and without urgent help, she will remain stuck overseas—even after she is well enough to come home.

She Has Always Been There for Us—Now It’s Our Turn

Zahra isn’t just a business owner—she’s a pillar of our community.

  • She has helped brides feel beautiful on their wedding days.
  • She has celebrated Eids and graduations with us, doing henna with joy and love.
  • She has mentored and uplifted young women, offering a listening ear and sisterly advice.
  • She has helped struggling customers, never turning them away even when they couldn’t afford it.

She has been a sister to all of us—now, she needs her sisters and brothers to stand by her.

We Need Your Help to Bring Her Back for Ramadan

Ramadan is a time of mercy, community, and generosity. We pray that Zahra can be reunited with her family in time to break fasts together, rather than facing this hardship alone in a foreign hospital.

Zahra’s surgery today was successful alhamdulilah and she’ll need another surgery tomorrow. Thank you all for your duaas and donations. She’s recovering from her surgery in the ICU. Please continue making duaa for her, may Allah grant her shifaa and restore her health.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "When Allah loves a slave, calls out Jibril and says: 'I love so-and-so; so love him'. Then Jibril loves him. After that he (Jibril) announces to the inhabitants of heavens that Allah loves so- and-so; so love him; and the inhabitants of the heavens (the angels) also love him and then make people on earth love him".

It is evident that Zahra is truly loved.
