Many South African children go to school on a daily basis without breakfast or food during the day due to poverty. 

The South Africa School Breakfast Club aims to support schools in South Africa by providing breakfast everyday to children who are hungry. Additionally, to supplement breakfast and promote sustainable food for the school we are building school gardens to provide fresh food for lunch.

Providing healthy meals to children will help reduce children missing school, improve their ability to learn, reduce repeating grades, and reduce the amount of children who drop out of school

The availability of food in school encourages children to attend school regularly and stay motivated to learn. This causes low energy levels and low concentration levels, making learning difficult.

 The United Nations has reported that more than 6 million children under the age of five are suffering from malnutrition each year. The lack of access to food has been a continuous challenge for communities in South Africa which has affected 11.4% of South African children under the age of five.
