Salaams! I am Fadil Umihanić from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and I am starting a fundraiser to help children from genocide-torn Srebrenica region pursue their education.

Use these Ramadan days and nights to gain good deeds that will last inshallah, support my fundraiser with at least a Euro!

Aftermaths of Srebrenica genocide

Genocide committed by the Serb army in 1995 over Bosniaks in the wider area of Srebrenica left the region devastated. Many fled their homes , but years after, people started returning back to their homes and starting their lives again. Biggest part of the people who returned do agriculture for living. Some villages that they came back to are 50 kilometres away from closest schools, and children of returnees often quit school, or those who stay, do not perform that good. This is where the story of Srebrenica dormitory starts.

New hope for the region​

The dormitory was started in 2012, with only 3 children in it. Now, by 2020, it has more than 80 middle school and high school students that stay there during the week. The building is located in a part of the town called Potočari. They have all their meals, accommodation, Foreign language courses and after school help by professionals covered in the dormitory. 
Using the dormitory is free of charge, because a lot of the parents of these students do not have stable income. The dormitory is financed by donations. And with the economical situation caused by COVID-19, it is questionable if the donor funding to this dormitory will continue.


I personally visit Srebrenica region every month or two, and I have a lot of friends from there. Some of them have used, or are still using Srebrenica dormitory.

By donating to this fundraiser, you are directly helping this children pursue their education and bring life back to genocide-torn Srebrenica region in Eastern Bosnia. The money you donate will go for covering costs of transportation, food, heating, teachers and courses. This is a great chance to earn yourself a long-lasting good deed, because the knowledge they gain with your support will be useful for them and everyone around them.
