Bendigo made international headlines in 2015 when anti-Islam protesters hijacked a council meeting and the far-right United Patriots Front and pro-diversity campaigners faced off at a series of rallies with a heavy police presence.

Since then, the Muslims of Bendigo have appeared in court many times to defend their right to build a place of worship. After years of legal battles, ending in the case being escalated to the Supreme Court of Australia, permission was finally granted to build the Bendigo Islamic Community Centre. 

This Masjid is the only Masjid within a 120 kilometer radius (75 miles) and is a critical asset for the local Muslim community. More than 1,000 Muslims will be able to pray, learn, and gather at this iconic site. 

The Muslims pulled out all the stops when it comes to the design, with the complex containing everything the community needs: Mosque, classrooms, commercial kitchen, function halls, and a funeral parlour. 

We need your support in order to continue the construction and finally be able to pray in this Mosque that met so much resistance, but in the end Allah SWT gave us the permission to build our Masjid whic will serve the Muslims for decades in sha Allah.
