Empower the American Muslim community through knowledge this Giving Tuesday—support ALIM's faith-affirming in-person and virtual monthly programming.

This Giving Tuesday, help us reach our goal of $30,000 to support the American Learning Institute for Muslims (ALIM) in continuing to provide impactful monthly programming that educates the American Muslim community. For the past 27 years, ALIM's programming has sought to educate Muslims with the knowledge to be confident, empowered critical thinkers who engage modern society in a meaningful way.

Every dollar donated to ALIM will be matched up to $10K, doubling your impact! Your donation will help fund our faith-affirming programming such as the annual ALIM Summer Program, Winter Program, and online courses. Additionally, your support will fund monthly live discussions with individuals who are making a positive impact on their communities worldwide, as well as monthly book clubs led by ALIM Resident Scholar Ustadh Ubaydullah Evans. In addition to our existing programming, your donation will also help ALIM launch online courses that individuals worldwide can benefit from, as well as a podcast that anyone can listen to on-the-go. By investing in ALIM, you are investing in the future of the American Muslim community.

Your zakat-eligible donation will make a difference in promoting Islamic literacy, critical thinking, and the healthy development of American Muslims. Join us in supporting ALIM as we work towards our mission of promoting empowered, healthy, and religiously sound individuals, families, and society within the American Muslim community. Thank you for your generous support.

ALIM Programs

Summer Program

The faith-affirming ALIM Summer Program is a three-week intensive seeking to educate and empower Muslims with the requisite knowledge to understand their religion in the light of a changing world. The 25th annual program helps Muslims build leadership skills, increase their confidence, encourage them to ask questions, and create a space for engaged discussion-based learning. Giving young Muslims access to top-notch scholars in an intimate classroom environment, the curriculum addresses traditional subjects such as Fiqh, Tafsir, and Sirah as well as contemporary issues in courses like Islam in America, Modernism, Sectarianism, and Liberalism. The upcoming 27th annual program this 2025 will feature well-respected, world-renowned scholars: Dr. Sherman Jackson, Dr. Ali Sulaiman Ali, Dr. Muneer Fareed, Ustadh Ubaydullah Evans, Imam Mohamed Magid, Ustadha Zaynab Ansari, Ustadh Mohammed Tayssir Safi, and Dr. Hadia Mubarak. Learn more here.

Winter Program

ALIM's Winter Program Building Consensus and Unity in an Age of Polarity with Dr. Sherman Jackson and Ustadh Ubaydullah Evans will be held at MCC East Bay, California, this President's Day weekend: Friday - Sunday, February 14 — 16, 2025. Through discussions led by ALIM and esteemed local scholars, we will explore the tension between respectful disagreement and the challenges of building consensus on critical issues. Learn more here.

Monthly Book Club: Led by Ustadh Ubaydullah Evans

ALIM's monthly online book club explores a range of thought-provoking books on mental health, spirituality, social justice, and more. At the end of each month, participants are invited to engage in insightful discussions with Ustadh Ubaydullah, allowing for deeper reflections on the reading. Occasionally, we also feature special guest speakers to enrich our conversations.

Monthly Blog

ALIM's blog serves as a dynamic platform where esteemed Core Scholars, including Dr. Sherman Jackson, Dr. Muneer Fareed, and Resident Scholar Ustadh Ubaydullah Evans, share their insights on pivotal topics related to faith, social justice, and relevant topics that resonate deeply within the American Muslim community. Through thought-provoking articles and reflective pieces, these scholars draw upon their expertise and experiences to address contemporary challenges, inspire critical dialogue, and illuminate paths toward understanding and growth. This blog aims to foster a rich conversation around issues that matter most, inviting readers to engage, reflect, and contribute to the vibrant discourse shaping our communities today.
