Bridging Faith and Community: The Islamic Center of Pooler

A few short years ago, an idea began to thrive amongst community members to fulfill a deeply felt absence of a mosque in the heart of Savannah's western areas. Here, a thriving Muslim community faces a significant challenge to perform daily prayers. The nearest mosque is a lengthy drive away, making daily prayers and community gatherings less accessible for many. Recognizing this gap, the community embarks on a journey to establish a new mosque in Pooler. Our aim is to transform how our community practices Islam, bring our Muslim Ummah even closer, and further spread the message of Islam. 

Why Pooler?

Pooler stands as a beacon of growth and opportunity, with its strategic location, offering access to resident of Bloomingdale, Garden City, Port Wentworth, and Rincon. Pooler houses 480 residents with an average growth rate of 1.7%. In the next decade an expected growth rate is expected to increase by 2% due to rapid Industrialization. Since Pooler provides access to I-95, it connects to Florida and can offer prayer space for travelers transiting through Savannah, Georgia. Pooler is the ideal home for our new mosque. This isn't just about an establishment; it's about creating a hub for spiritual growth, education, and community support right where it's most needed.

What we need

At the moment, we are in acute need of $50000 to support construction work, pay rent for the space, support an Imam, and bring the mosque to life this Ramadan. Below are pictures of the current space.

Facilities

• Prayer Hall: Spacious and accommodating a significant number of worshippers 50-70 person
• Moazzin Area: Specifically designated area for the Moazzin.
• Dedicated space for Women
• Office/Workshop Room: A small administrative and educational purposes.
• Parking: Ample parking spaces to ensure convenience for the attendees.
• Community Spaces: Prayer hall can be used for community gatherings, events, and educational purposes.

Services Available Upon Completions:

• 5 daily prayers
• Ramadan Activities: Taraweeh
• Administration Office Use: The mosque houses administrative offices where staff members manage the
• operations, planning, and outreach activities of the mosque

Future:

• Depending on the community support and demand we may expand the services in future to include;
• Funeral Services
• Social Support outreach Services: The mosque can offers various social support services to assist members of the
• community in times of need, such as counseling, new-convert accommodation program, and community welfare
• programs.
• Seminars and Workshops: The ICP can hosts limited capacity seminars and workshops.
• Youth Education Activities: The ICP is committed to the education of the younger generation, offering a range of
• activities including Quranic studies, Islamic history lessons, and youth engagement programs.
