The classroom lacks basic tools they need to truly thrive. This is the reality for many of our Imams Madrassahs across Africa. These Madrassahs, often in remote and underserved communities, lack the essential resources to function and create a conducive learning environment.

The Problem

In the vulnerable and underprivileged communities of our Imams, teaching resources, despite being basic, is an absolute luxury. With 78.3% of Imams students being between the ages of 5–10 and 87.9% of students being between the ages of 11–15, it is crucial for them to be in an environment that is not only inspiring but is equipped with the necessary tools to meet their needs. Poverty is so deeply entrenched that many Imams, who are already on modest salaries, often find themselves dipping into their own pockets to provide the bare necessities for their Madrassahs. Sadly, even these sacrifices are not enough to bridge the gap.

The Harsh Reality of Madrassahs in Africa

 These are not just numbers; they represent the harsh reality of under-resourced Madrassahs where dedicated Imams and teachers struggle daily. They, despite being energized and passionate, are hindered by a lack of tools and resources. The future of these young minds, eager and full of potential, is sadly at risk.

Imam Muhammad Amati: A Lack of Islamic Attire Results in Poor Attendance

Some students are shy about coming because they don't own a burqa or proper attire like other students, so they refuse to come. Yet they are coming from an unislamic home, so I would sacrifice sometimes to go teach them at their homes, but it makes it difficult sometimes because they live in different directions, and sometimes I won't always be available to go and teach them.

We are having great problems because children sit on bare cement floors, and this is very painful as the cement is always very cold as we live in a very cold mountainous district.

Students do not have small tables to place the Qur'an while reading, which causes the books to tear and wear out early and a lack of stability while reading.

The Future of Huffaaz

I believe we can produce young Huffaaz of Qur'aan and ahadeeth with a solid foundation of Islam, who in turn will be a better and brighter future of Muslims upon which the love of deen was planted in them from a tender age.
