Since our inception in 2013, MDMC has been steadfast in our mission to improve the lives of Deaf, Deaf Plus, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing individuals. Through our comprehensive array of services, including ASL instruction, workforce solutions, social justice workshops, and emotional support, we empower Deaf individuals to transition from dependence to independence.

Our impact speaks volumes. We've facilitated transformative communication breakthroughs, reuniting Deaf individuals with their families. Yet, many in our community still grapple with profound isolation, leading to mental health struggles. MDMC is dedicated to diminishing this isolation through services that foster connections and positively influence mental health.

To date, we've proudly served over 105 individuals, making a significant impact in Minnesota and North Carolina. But our impact extends far beyond our numbers. Despite being a small organization, our work has substantial implications. Deafness, often considered low-incidence, has profound effects, and MDMC mitigates its negative impacts.

Through our initiatives such as pro-bono ASL interpreting services, Q&A with the Scholars program, and the Alt-LS program providing alternative literacy support, we're breaking barriers and expanding opportunities. Our DGIP, launched in 2020, has already seen remarkable success, with 10 individuals now gainfully employed and 2 mentored in entrepreneurship.

At MDMC, our commitment to social and disability justice is unwavering. Over 80% of our board and staff are individuals with disabilities, ensuring that our work is rooted in lived experiences and genuine understanding.
