The 7.7 magnitude earthquake on Friday, March 28, 2025 impacted on Thailand, causing more than 2.000 buildings to be damaged. This earthquake even caused a thirty floor building being constructed to collapse and bury at least 80 workers. The SAR team struggled to find the victims in the rubble of the building.

The big building in Bangkok that collapsed was meant to house government offices. But the earthquake reduced it to a pile of rubble and twisted metal in seconds. Fragments fell from the ceiling as the building began to shake. Uniformed staff ran outside in fear. Nearby roads cracked, even the asphalt peeled off, blocking routes to one of the city's largest hospital. Hundreds of people were injured and at least 80 workers were buried in the rubble.

At 2:20 p.m. on Friday, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra declared Bangkok an emergency zone and ordered authorities to issue a nationwide alert, public notification via SMS and media, and mobilize the military. Airports, hospitals, and transportation services were also put on alert in Bangkok.

Local authorities coordinated to anticipate possible aftershocks that continued. The two major buildings that suffered major damage from the earthquake were a 34-floor building and a three-floor building in the Thai capital.
