All praise be to Allah who has allowed this project to reach this far.

The construction of Uppsala Stenhagen Mosque is in big CRISIS. The official deadline for completion of the mosque is September 2025. If it is not completed by this time, the authority will demolish the ongoing construction and sell out the property. Our invested 1,5 million pounds will be gone. The Holy Quran was burnt in Uppsala in 2022 in front of the Muslims. 

BACKGROUND 

- The land of 3450 square meters was bought in 2015.  

- The architectural plan, after all judicial and court proceedings, was finally approved on 1 October 2020. 

- Ground leveling and foundation completed November 2022 

- Basement and construction of ground floor is at the final stage  

- Once completed, 1500 people will be able to pray at a time. 

- An amount of 1,5 million pounds has already been invested. 

UPDATE as of December 2024: The basement and ground floor is at the final stages. Following on from that will be building the 1st and 2nd floors!

WHAT IS NEXT?  

The remaining cost is 2,5 million pounds. We have just 0,6 million pounds in our hands.   We need another 1,9 million pounds in ten (10) months to complete the mosque.  

WORK UP UNTIL NOW: 

A building permit was approved and granted by Uppsala Municipality in November 2020, giving us 5 years to finish the project - until November 2025. For the purchase of land, permits and drawings, we have already spent $400 000, mainly collected from the local Muslims in and around Uppsala. An additional $800 000 was then spent on the groundwork and foundation, with the help of donations from muslims all over the world.

Some of you might have seen that we had a fundraiser up during the past year. With the help of the money gathered through that, we have managed to complete Phase 1 - buying the ground, laying the foundation and building the bases. Phase 2 - Further groundwork and building the basement. Phase 2 began in June 2024. Phase 3 started in November 2025 - building the entire facade. 

We turn to you, our sisters and brothers worldwide for your help in this huge project. We know that these are trying times for muslims worldwide, and money is being sent in charity to several countries and people in need all over the world. This project is huge for the muslims of Uppsala, who are in need of a masjid in order for our muslim brothers and sisters to have a center of community and a place where we can practise our Deen.

About us

Uppsala Dawa Stiftelse was created in 2013 and is the foundation behind this project. The foundation consists of a core group of people who meet on a regular basis to discuss the project and the progress that has been made each day. Beyond that lies the support of numerous brothers and sisters in the community, as well as from all across Sweden. 

Beyond that, we have travelled to other cities in Sweden and established contacts there to aid us with this big project. We have worked to spread the word to all of the Muslim community in Uppsala as well as other cities. The work never ends at the moment, as now is the crucial time to begin building the exterior of the masjid, within the time limit set by the municipality of Uppsala. Now we are also looking outside of Sweden and hoping to be aided by our brothers and sisters in the international community.
