Assalamualikum 👋,
Since its establishment in 1969, the Islamic Society (ISOC) has been entrusted by the University of New South Wales as the official Muslim student association (MSA) to provide services and facilities for the Muslim community. Under the virtues of “Faith, Unity, Peace”, ISOC provides not only for the students and staff members, but also locals residing within the Eastern Suburbs and beyond. The community at ISOC is very diverse with an ethical demographic made up of cultures from all corners of the world and it is here at ISOC that many of our members have discovered and benefitted from the cross-cultural friendships that they have built and continued to treasure.
Currently, our permanent facilities on campus include event and prayer rooms and ablution facilities. Larger congregations like the Friday Jummah prayers take place weekly in a dedicated indoor sports hall at the university gymnasium while the Eid prayers take place in a nearby event space to accommodate the large crowds.
However, with a steadily increasing Muslim population in the Eastern Suburbs (mashaAllah!), we have often found it difficult to accommodate. Thus, we have taken it upon ourselves to help cater to the needs of the community by building the first mosque in the Eastern Suburbs — and we cannot do it without YOU!
To date, we have managed to secure a property at the price of 1.8 million dollars and have raised over 1.2 million dollars in a campaign that has been running over the past several years since the intention has been made. We have to pay off the remaining sum of $450,000.
The Mosque will not only help the Muslims of today but also Muslims of the future who pray there and YOU will get the reward for it insyaAllah. So please, brothers and sisters, give what you can. We are SO CLOSE to achieving our goal and YOU can help us get there! May Allah accept your goodwill and charity and increase you abundantly!

Alhamdulillah! Our masjid 🕌 project is making tremendous progress. Watch the latest video below. We have raised over $1,900,250 so far, bringing us closer to our goal. InshaAllah, the mosque will open soon.

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatuh,
Despite an incredibly tough year for all of us, especially with COVID, a global recession and unrest throughout the world, We’re thrilled to announce that the Settlement of the purchase is in place, and the ISOC, Madina Pty Ltd owns the property, Alhamdulillah 🎉.
We were able to accomplish this by securing a Qard Hasan (loan) of $450000, and we require to pay it off by the end of 2022. Our new year resolution is to pay off the loan and construction cost, and we cannot do it without you.
As we embarked on the year 2022, we also want to look back share the highlights.

ISOC Eastern Suburbs Masjid Update
It's been a tough year for the ISOC Eastern suburbs Masjid. However, we are making every effort to fulfil our dream of having a mosque as the community hub. We wanted to update you with the latest developments of the Masjid project - we are excited to announce that we are targeting to commence construction in the last quarter of 2021 insha'Allah.
Following Development Approval (DA) late last year, we are now making every effort to obtain a Construction Certificate (CC). We are currently tendering the works and consulting with builders to confirm a final scope and price to progress to the next stage of this exciting development for our community.
