Project Assist, in partnership with Sponsor Circles, are initiating an effort to help an Afghan Refugee family resettle in Northern California.

The Sponsor Circles Program

The Sponsor Circles Program is a community-led resettlement initiative that allows everyday Americans to take on the responsibility of welcoming Afghan newcomers to their communities. An emergency response launched to ensure that all arriving Afghans receive welcome and support, the Sponsor Circles Program pairs Afghan newcomers with community groups eager to provide support.

Project Assist

We are an SF based non-profit organization (501c3 status pending). Our goal is to help individuals & families to stand on their own feet by providing them with assistance, guidance and initial financial support. Since the start of the pandemic, we have partnered with organizations such as the Yaseen Foundation and the Support Life Foundation to help hundreds of families; providing groceries, housing, career development, resume writing, and clerical support to obtain state assistance.

How your donation will help:

Afghan Refugees that fled to the US left behind every aspect of their lives in the hope of safety and peace. Often those that fled, left behind family members, jobs, businesses and all that they hold dear. Almost half of the refugees who fled are children and many are still living in crowded US-based military camps. 

Your support will not only provide them the essentials they need to survive initially (e.g. food, clothing, housing etc) but will also help longer-term to sustain a better life through access to opportunities (e.g. education/retraining, job seekers support, public services etc). 

Please join hands with us in fundraising $30,000 (minimum) to welcome an Afghan family to our community.  Your donation will support their initial 6 months as follows:

·         Secure housing, approx. $3,000+ in monthly rent;

·         Provide basic necessities (furniture, clothing, food, etc.)

·         Legal assistance in completion of relevant immigration documentation and to access federal/state allowances (where eligible);

·         Connect to relevant services, including health care, education, and legal assistance;

·         English language skills;

·         Help to secure employment; and

·         Provide community orientation, friendship, and moral support.

Zakat Eligibility:

We accept both Sadaqa and Zakat. In order for us to properly allocate your donations, please check “Count as Zakat” before donating. All other donations with no zakat delineation will be considered a Sadaqa.

Tax Deductibility:

We are in the process of registering our organization, “Project Assist”, as a Non-Profit with 501c3 status so that your donations can qualify for 2022 tax deductions. Please make sure to add your contact info (cell/ email) for the tax receipts.
