After years of serving the North York Muslim community from a mall basement, we're raising funds for a deposit on a halal mortgage for our first permanent masjid. Your contribution will help secure a dedicated space for prayer, education, and community services—eliminating our need to rent temporary spaces and establishing a lasting Islamic center for generations to come.

North York Muslim Association

The North York Muslim Association (NYMA) has been the only Islamic center serving our growing community—operating from a modest basement under a mall. Despite our humble surroundings, we've created a vibrant spiritual home for hundreds of families. However, our current reality presents significant challenges:

We regularly exceed capacity for prayers especially during Friday prayers, during Taraweeh prayers in Ramadan and of course for Eid prayers. This forces us to rent halls and community centres at considerable expense—funds that could be better invested in our own permanent home.

Now, we have the opportunity to establish a permanent masjid that will:

• Accommodate our growing congregation without requiring rental spaces
• Offer dedicated spaces for sisters
• Expand educational programs for children and adults
• Provide stability and consistency in our most important gatherings
• Create a permanent neighbourhood landmark for Muslims in North York's City Centre
• Establish a lasting waqf (endowment) for future generations

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a similar house in Paradise." By contributing to this campaign, you're not just helping construct a building—you're building a legacy of faith, community, and service in our neighborhood.

Our Goal

We've been saving for this goal for several years and have accumulated a portion of what we need. This campaign aims to raise funds to add to the deposit on a halal mortgage for a suitable property in North York.

Fundraising Goal: $100,000 for property deposit Timeline: Dul Hijjah 1446/2025 (March-June) 

Our board has identified several potential properties in the area that would serve our needs. Once we secure the deposit, we plan to complete the purchase and obtain Shariah-compliant financing by summer 2025, insha'Allah.
