Why we are helping orphans and widows:

There are more than 140 million orphans worldwide and they are the most vulnerable people of their communities living without any access to basic needs such as food, education, health, and accommodation. As result a child under 15 dies every 5 seconds around the world and 22,000 children die each day due to poverty and most of them are orphan.

The situation of widows is very similar to the orphan children, there are 258 million widows around the world, nearly one in ten live in extreme poverty. They have no access to basic needs such as food, health care, housing and education and are left homeless to begging on streets and suffering from various dangers such as kidnapping, sex abuse and slavery. 

Since the pandemic the number of orphans and widows are suffering from hunger has doubled to 272 million people do not have enough food. 

What Orphans In Need is doing about it? 

Orphans in Need is a UK-registered Charity, founded in 2005 and they focus on helping orphans and widows worldwide. They are providing shelter, food, healthcare and education- primarily to orphans and widows. Orphans In need currently support over 40,000 orphans in, Bangladesh, Gambia, India, Kashmir, Kenya, Mali, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine (Gaza), Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Somalia and Sri Lanka.

Last year, OIN provided over 12 million meals to needy widows and orphans worldwide. This year they aim to provide 15 million meals this year.

What Does The Food Parcels Provide? 

Each Food Parcel generally contains nutritional staples such as rice, flour, lentils, pulses, oil, spices, tea, milk powder, sugar, dates, sanitation products and much more. All the produce is sourced locally with a focus on nutritional benefits and longevity.
