Donations bring life-changing literacy and job-training to women in Afghanistan


Islamic Relief's work in Afghanistan

Islamic Relief is working with local communities in many parts of Afghanistan to empower women. With children, there are Orphan Sponsorship programs, which give hope, access to education and healthcare, and a home to a families that had none before. 



In remote villages around the country, Islamic Relief runs Literacy programs that empower women to read and communicate formally for the first time in public spaces.


So far, Islamic Relief has graduated over 3,100 women in our literacy classes. These classes include jobs for 62 teachers.


In other programs, women are taught to read, establishing savings accounts, and are given livestock that, in 1 year, will make them economically independent. 


In Bamyan, Islamic Relief is also hosting job training programs for women, where they learn to sew - enabling them to start their own businesses and help their families. These communities are being transformed by the investment IR putting into this country. Please donate what you can to assist these programs.
