Donate to Build a Water Well in Hmzah's Name as a Sadaqa Jariyah

Hmzah Almomani, age 30,  passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 7th, 2020. He was a son, brother, and dear friend to many. Hmzah had a lively, larger-than-life personality, balanced with an incredibly kind and compassionate spirit. Anyone fortunate enough to have known Hmzah has experienced his superpower of bringing joy and healing to others through his clever humor. He will always be remembered for his infectious smile and remarkable ability to bring people together through laughter. Hmzah is sorely missed by his parents, five sisters, and all of his relatives and friends.

Help us ensure his scale of good deeds is heavy by setting this continuous charity in his name. Sadaqah Jariyah is a special charitable act which continues to benefit us even when we have passed from this world.

"When a person passes away, all their deeds end, except three: Sadaqah Jariya (a continuing charity), beneficial knowledge and a child who prays for them.” - Prophet Muhammad

Hmzah with his family

We are so grateful for all the care, support, and generosity our friends and family are sharing with us.

Across the globe, 1 in every 9 people do not have access to clean water.  A United Nations publication “Safe Water as the Key to Global Health" states: “No other single intervention is more likely to have a significant impact on global poverty than the provision of safe water.”

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was asked, “Which charity is best?” He replied, “[Providing] water”’. [Source: Abu Dawud]

This is why we have decided to build a water system in Hmzah's name through Islamic Relief

Islamic Relief water and sanitation projects–both at the emergency and long-term levels–have been providing essential aid for many years.

They bypass short-term interventions and high running costs to instead provide long-term sustainable solutions; installing irrigation systems, building water tanks, training communities, distributing hygiene kits and rehabilitating viable water systems.

NOTE: Any money raised beyond the original goal amount will be used to fund additional water systems for impoverished villages in Hmzah's name.

What we can do together:

$1,000 can help set the foundation for a solar-powered water generator in drought-prone regions

$250 can help build safe sanitation zones for women and girls

$30 can provide clean water access to families in need
