“Whoever guides someone to goodness will have a reward like the one who did it.”
— Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
This campaign will collect all funds raised by December 2, 2017 at 7:00 PM EST
There is a saying;
Imam madrassah wants the youth of Burnley and East Lancashire to have access to quality Islamic education and social support that previous generations missed out on whilst growing up. We hope that having access to this education and support will enable the youth to grow a strong Islamic identity and in turn become true representatives of Ahlulbayt and ambassadors of Islam, Insha'Allah.
If we want change in our societies and communities, we need to invest in them. Investing with time and education is key for this change.
Our beloved Prophet (pbuh) said:
'The child is the master for seven years (1st stage) ; and a slave for seven years (2nd stage) and a vizier for seven years (3rd stage) ; so if he builds a good character within 21 years, well and good, otherwise leave him alone because (if you looked after him for 21 years).'
'Traditions state that Imam al-Mahdi needs 313 followers which are not only sincere and faithful, but also possess supreme knowledge and wisdom. Imam al-Mahdi should also have another 40,000 faithful followers who will fill the secondary positions. These people will not fall out of sky! It is up to us to educate our communities which could help to bring up such people, by first starting from our family, and friends, then school, then city, and then country to the extent of our ability. We should however start from ourselves to avoid sin and to acquire more knowledge and wisdom and become more obedient to Allah.' (www.al-islam.org)
Maulana Syed Najmul Hasan Naqvi arrived in Burnley over 15 years ago. He was appointed Imam of the local Hussainia in Burnley which has an established and growing Muslim Shia community.
When Maulana Syed Najmul Hasan Naqvi arrived he noted the absence of any Arabic Qu'ran classes and here began his first project. With overwhelming support from members of the community, he initiated Arabic Tajweed and translation classes for children and adults. Over a period of time, alongside these classes, Friday classes were commenced covering fiqh, akhlaq and Islamic history. This was a much needed development for the Muslim Shia community of Burnley and East Lancashire.
IMAM Madrassah, as an organisation, was officially formed in 2016 to present a professional and organised structure to an organisation that aims to deliver an exceptional level of Islamic education.
As first generation British Muslims, growing up, many of us found it difficult to understand and place religion properly within our lives. Culture and religion was often misunderstood and culture was instead inappropriately imposed. This story resonates with several if not all out our volunteer staff.
"As a mother to two young boys, who are just starting their educational journey, I do not want them to be confused about their identity as British Muslims and unsure of where their place is within society. We need our future generations to have a strong Islamic foundation to take them through life's peaks and troughs. Enabling them to make the right decision using their Islamic values as a means to guide them. It is important that they understand Islam is a complete way of life and not confined to just the masjid or on religious days/events. This is my motivation and drives me as a volunteer at IMAM Madrassah." - Volunteer Parent
...to create a modern and inviting educational space for the Muslim youth of East Lancashire.
We need YOUR help to create an amazing educational space. If just 800 Muslims donated £25 ($33) we would raise all the money to help towards the renovations! We have 1.5 Billion Muslims across the globe, are you going to be one of the amazing people to help support our Madrassah?
We have previously shared premises with our local Hussainia and another mixed use building. Although we are extremely grateful to the management teams of both these premises, the buildings were not suitable due to the number of children attending and their varied age groups.
As we have now secured our first permanent building we are now looking to raise funds for its renovation and furnishing. We hope to bring the building up to date so it will be of the standard that our youth are accustomed to within their mainstream schools.

IMAM Organisation gained momentum in March 2016 to promote understanding, respect, tolerance and cultural cohesion. These are all essential values for today's multi-cultural Britain. The organisation encourages and supports improving quality of life; spiritually, ethically, socially and academically by sharing with the youth the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and his Holy Household (as).
Standing in solidarity with the victims of the Manchester MEN bombing; a peace walk organised by IMAM Organisation UK.
The building, previously used as a training centre for the youth, has been out of use for several years. It currently consists of two large lecture rooms/halls, 1 medium sized class room as well as two smaller class rooms. It requires some upgrading to be suitable for the use of the Madrassah. We hope to install movable partitions in the halls to enable them to be spilt into two rooms when needed.
IMAM Organisation has a very strong, supportive and hands on management and staff/volunteer team, led by Maulana Syed Najamul Hassan Naqvi and his wife Alimah Syeda Touqir Naqvi.
We have regular donations, from generous members of the community and the wider community, which cover the costs of rent and utility bills. All our volunteers are unpaid and dedicate their time for the sake of Allah.

The teams have worked hard to clean, paint and organise the building over the last few weeks to enable the building to be used temporarily for classes. We are fortunate to have an electrician and builder within the volunteer team who have been able to get the internal building and electrical work completed.
Unfortunately as can be seen in the pictures we do not have suitable tables and chairs in all rooms, or basic teaching tools in order to teach the students adequately.
Ground floor lecture hall/classrooms.
First floor classroom.
We are hoping that funds raised through this campaign, alongside various other fundraising initiatives that have and are being organised, will help us purchase the equipment required to assist volunteer teachers and staff in delivering their classes in a professional manner. We also hope to purchase tables and chairs as well as basic equipment for the students, so they are in a comfortable environment and can focus on their studies.
