Our dear friend and brother Karim Saafi tragically passed away on Ethiopian Airlines flight 302 on the 10th of March 2019. He was a man with an incredible generosity of spirit who was passionate about making the world a better place.
After consulting with family and friends of Karim, we are setting up this page to create a legacy fund that will, God Willing, build wells across Africa in loving memory of Karim. Every donation will serve as a 'Sadaqah Jaariyah' or continuous charity that will benefit generations of people to come.
Karim was the sort of person who would light up a room with his presence, energy and light. He was brimming with life and love and held a special place in many of our hearts. He was a passionate civil society activist who worked across Europe and Africa, dedicating his life to serving those less fortunate and fighting for the rights of young people.
Francine Muyumba, President of the Pan African Youth Union said, “with the passing away of Karim, African youth lose one of its great representatives. We will remember Karim as a person who gave without counting, who shared his knowledge and its network for the development of all young people. But above all we remember a man always smiling, kind, making everyone comfortable”
إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ
“When a person dies, his deeds come to an end, except for three: ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), knowledge that is benefited from, and a righteous child who prays for him.”
In honour and in memory of Karim, we are asking everyone to make a donation, little or large, to help us build wells across Africa to help communities stricken by water poverty. May every drop be a means for the forgiveness of Karim and a reason for him to enter the highest levels of paradise. We pray that God blesses him and give his family and friends strength in this difficult time.

Final Update - Our Legacy Fund for Karim ends in 3 days

Aslaamo Alaikum
I want to thank you once again for your support in remembering our brother Karim Saafi who sadly passed away on the Ethiopian Airlines flight 302 several weeks ago. All the funds contributed to this legacy fund will build wells across Africa as a Sadaqah-Jariyah (continuous charity) in Karim's name.
While the flight and crash are no longer in the news, the sense of loss and pain felt by those who knew and loved Karim live on. Your support for this campaign is sincerely appreciated.
We have 3 days left for our campaign and we would be very grateful if you would consider sharing this message/page with your networks to help push us over our target. All contributions, little or large, will make a real difference.

Dear friends,
Asalaamo Alaikum wa rahmatullah.
Today was a sad day for Muslims worldwide as 49 innocent sisters and brothers were killed as they went for their Jumua prayers in New Zealand.
Just as our brother Karim lost his life in the tragic plane crash last weekend, their passing is a reminder that our life is a trust from Allah and to Him we will all return.
All we have is the good deeds we do and this will be our legacy. This past week we have been reflecting on the incredible legacy of our brother Karim. He inspired so many of us and we will be missed tremendously.
I wanted to extend a sincere thank you to each and everyone of you for contributing to this legacy fund that will be used to create sadaqah-jaariyah (continuous charity) projects in the name of Karim.
We are close to reaching our target, this Jumua consider digging a little deeper in honour and remembrance of an incredible young man who gave so much to the world. Every little you donate will help.
