Join us in providing need-based scholarships to deserving students for the upcoming 2018-19 school year!

              Al Ikhlas Training Academy:

                    Our Mission & Vision

Our main goal is to create an environment that allows each student to maximize his/her abilities academically, socially, and spiritually in order to become healthy, productive citizens of the world society.

From our kindergarteners to graduating seniors, our mission is to ensure that all students feel loved and supported in our school.

We also aim to make sure that our students support one another and that older students serve as authentic mentors for younger students. Below is a short clip from 8th-grade student, Heba Ani, expressing her appreciation for the mentorship she received this school year from older students at ATA.

Our goal is to develop in each of our students self-motivation and a love for learning. This is why learning begins early at ATA and we are a proud K-12 Islamic school.

           WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP:

More than half of our incoming student population require the assistance of need-based scholarship awards and packages. Our school prides itself on working persistently to ensure that finances are never the final criteria. Families seeking a holistic Islamic education for their children will never be turned away on the sole basis of financial needs. But in order to keep this philosophy thriving, we need YOUR help. Our demographic ranges from Yemeni, Syrian, Bangladeshi, students of African descent, and others. While the diversity of our school gives us an advantage for teaching empathy and understanding to our students, it equally requires that we pay close attention to the needs and demands of the communities we serve, often those coming from lower socio-economic backgrounds. With the strong belief that Islamic education is both, a privilege and a right to every Muslim child, we need your help to keep the doors of ATA open and accessible to everyone who walks through them, aspiring toward a God-conscious based learning model.

MEET SOME OF OUR ATA AMEERS!

Bushrah Rahman (2014) is a Michigan Certified Secondary Education Teacher, with concentrations in English and Social Studies. A recent graduate of Wayne State University, she successfully completed a 5-year education program in just four years and with high honors.

Bushrah points to her time at ATA as a reason for her motivation to pursue teaching. “I have begun my journey in education, so [that] I can make an impact on the lives of the young people and students in my community,” says Bushrah. “ATA influenced my accomplishments by instilling within me the drive to pursue justice, da’wah, and ibadah in any work that I do, especially in my career.”

Nabintou Doumbia (2015) is a rising senior at Wayne State University, studying sociology and African American Studies and a pre-law student. She serves on the Al-Ikhlas Training Academy Alumni Association and is a community organizer with MAS Youth Detroit. She is the incoming Regional Director of MIST Detroit, a dynamic organization which aims to bring high school students together to develop leadership, promote communication, and inspire creativity while gaining a deeper understanding of Islam and Muslims.

As MIST Detroit’s fifth Regional Director, she brings years of community organizing experience to her new role. And it’s connected to her roots at ATA. “My time spent at ATA has served as a conduit between my passions and the community-centered initiatives for implementing them. In fact, it was at ATA where I was exposed to this higher principle of the need for talk to be invested into action,” she says. “ATA has managed to create an environment that fosters action-oriented students who learn that being agents of positive, social change in our community is more than any hobby or matter of accumulating volunteer hours to meet the graduation requirement; rather, it is a clear duty of the Muslim American.”

Nushrat Rahman (2014) is a recent graduate of Wayne State University with a Bachelors of Arts in English Honors and minor in Sociology. Throughout her years at ATA and college, Nushrat has developed a love for research, writing, and media. As a result, she aims to pursue a career in journalism. She has bylines in Hour Detroit and is currently building her portfolio as a freelancer while applying to graduate programs. She hopes to one day earn a Ph.D. and teach at the university level.

A passion for social change, equity, and God-consciousness is why Nushrat has chosen a career path grounded in unmitigated truth. “If there’s anything I learned at Al-Ikhlas, it’s that the pursuit of justice is a never-ending journey. From Islamic Studies class and Social Studies to Monday morning assemblies and commencements, my fourteen years at ATA has fashioned me into a person rooted in faith and a vehicle for God’s work.”

Muhaimin Manik (2012) is currently enrolled in Wayne State University's Physician Assistant program and will graduate in 2019, InshaAllah (God-willing). He works as a clinical assistant at Beaumont Royal Oak and wants to pursue Orthopedics and Robotic Surgery in the future.
When it comes to his academic achievements, Muhaimin says that ATA has influenced his accomplishments by providing a foundation of commitment, adaptability, discipline, focus, and working hard but playing smart in everyday situations. He says, “I feel that my strongest skill set is networking and bonding with the people that I meet, whether I meet them only once my entire life or I see them every day. This ability to bond helps me grow and learn as a person every day and it is one of the main reasons why I joined healthcare.”

Hanan Azom (2016) is currently a Junior at Wayne State University pursuing a degree in Marketing with a minor in War and Peace Studies. “I pray that my love for creativity, design, and public change combined, are all ways I can make a positive change in a world like ours, and live a life that God guides me through,” says Hanan. “Often times, I find myself thinking back to a Monday morning assembly, where Bro Nadir consistently told us that he will always have our back so as long as we strive for the same end goal--to prosper in Heaven by living lives Allah SWT would be pleased with.”
