Changing the Narrative

“Islam hates us,” is a statement that Donald Trump, now President of the United States, remarked last year. This comment exists not in isolation but in the context of years, decades, and centuries of Islamophobia which were built off negative stereotypes of Islam and Muslims. The work of the ISF is based on the belief that Muslims must be empowered to be their own agents of change and to enter into fields such as law, media, and policy where they can play a direct role in shaping public opinion and public policy. 

Through the generous support of the community,  we have been able to support students and film makers with the following accomplishments:

• Awarded 234 academic scholarships and grants to  scholars totaling $689,000
• Expanded the Congressional Leadership Development Program by placing 16 Muslim student scholars in Capitol Hill
• Launched the American Muslim Storytellers Grant 
• Awarded 14 film grants totaling $95,800

ISF Scholars Deliver Real Impact:

Through 2016, ISF Media and Journalism Scholars have: 

• Generated 1760+ Articles
• Made 100+Appearances on 50+ Stations
• Given 60+ Lectures

Through 2016, ISF Filmmakers have:

• Created 65+ Films appearing in 160+ Festivals
• Earned 40+ Awards, including four (4) Emmys

Through 2016, ISF PublicPolicy Scholars have earned:

• 37+JD Degrees
• 66+MA Degrees

This Ramadan, we’re asking that you help us raise $20,000, through this campaign, to empower American Muslim students who are working to dismantle and shift problematic discourses on Islam and Muslims. This is a pivotal time for American Muslims and we know we have the support of our community because we have been able to award 234 grants amounting to $689,000 in the last 7 years of operation alone. With your support, we can continue to develop a a network of brilliant and dedicated students that are working towards social justice. Nothing could be more important during Ramadan.
