A series of major earthquakes struck parts of central Turkey and northern Syria. More than 20.000 people have lost their lives and thousands are injured due to homes collapsing as they slept. These grim numbers continues to rise as the rescue effort intensifies

The first quake, measuring a magnitude of 7.8 struck 20 miles from the Turkish city of Gaziantep. A second large quake measuring a magnitude of 7.5 struck in Kahramanmaras province, 80 miles north of the first quake.

The response and rescue situation has been rapid and ongoing. The destructive forces unleashed by the quakes will become more evident as the days progress. Buildings and infrastructure have collapsed, leaving hundreds of thousands of people without homes, power and water. Once thriving neighbourhoods have been decimated. Loved ones remain missing in the rubble. Hope is all the survivors have.

I am supporting Human Relief Foundation who are supporting people in Gaziantep, Marash and Urf,a assessing the situation and planning a quick intervention, therefore I kindly appeal to you all to donate generously to help those are so much need right now. 

International aid is urgently required to assist local emergency services to save the lives of those still trapped and provide food and shelter for those displaced by the destruction. Human Relief Foundation is mobilising partners on the ground in Turkey to provide shelter, food, blankets, carpet and fuel to those in desperate need.
