I am humbled and very happy to be working with Penny Appeal Canada for a second Ramadan. Once again I have chosen to support this amazing cause by fundraising for their OrphanKind program. 

Every child deserves a chance to have a safe and happy childhood which supports a successful adulthood. Far too many times, through no fault of their own, children are brought into a world of poverty, fear and loneliness. They are not able to access basic necessities like nutrition or education.

As a mother of 4, it is heartbreaking to think of children dealing with the detrimental effects of childhood trauma. As a community we can ensure these orphaned children know that they are loved. We can show them compassion - which is instrumental in keeping vulnerable children off the streets. We can help provide them the necessary resources for life. We can help them access nutritious food, clean water, medical care, education and training in life skills. 

Penny Appeal does not treat orphans like just a number. They make a conscious effort for each child. They send 100% of the sponsor’s contribution to every child in need. Any amount is appreciated. InshaAllah, we can be real-life heroes!

Remember, no one ever becomes impoverished by giving!

What is the problem?

There are more than 153 million orphans worldwide and it’s estimated that the number grows by 5,700 children EVERY DAY! These vulnerable children often grow up in poverty, without access to education, healthcare, food, or proper clothing. They’re missing out on a happy childhood, while the chance for a successful future slips away for them. This is where your small contributions can make a Big Difference.

What is Penny Appeal Canada doing for Orphans?

He (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) said, “I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this,” putting his index and middle fingers together.
