On December 22, 2021 the Islamic Community Center of Laurel, Maryland, USA purchased 7.2 acres of land adjacent to the masjid, Alhamdulillah.
The Masjid now needs your help to pay back the Qard/Loans used for the majority of this purchase.
The total cost of this acquisition was $1.75M. We collected donations of about $400,000 in less than two months! The remaining $1.35M needed to close the property was collected as interest free loans (Qard). The payback terms vary, but most of these loans need to be paid back within three years, or we could risk losing the property to foreclosure.
New property (7.2 acres) in RED. Previously owned in GREEN (4.5 acres).
This land was the FINAL opportunity to obtain adjacent land to the masjid. It will enable:
● Greater Expansion Flexibility
● Larger Building Space (maximum allowed)
● Recreational & Picnic Areas
● Senior / Community Center
● Increased Parking
● Dedicated School (meets 5 acre minimum)
● Potential Residential Development as Waqf (endowment)
