Impact: Indonesia
Verified for authenticity.
The world is currently experiencing climate change. The main cause based on research is deforestation which can cause global warming.
Some of the impacts that have occurred include:
Indonesia is the world's lung country with the 3rd largest forest area in the world after Brazil and Congo. But every year, the amount of forest area is decreasing. According to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Indonesia lost 119,000 hectares of forest in the last 2 years.
Lembaga Manajemen Infaq (LMI) is an Amil Zakat Institution which was established in 1995 in Indonesia. LMI collect zakat, infaq, waqf, and other social funds to be distributed to those in need

Save The Earth By Planning Tress In Indonesia
Ngawi - Preserving and conserving nature is our collective responsibility. One way to start is from ourselves, for example, by disposing of garbage in its proper place. However, if what is done together has a greater impact, such as planting trees for environmental preservation and greening, especially if it has economic benefits for the surrounding community.
LMI, together with the mothers' association of TPQ-D Kiyonten, enthusiastically received 150 seedlings of white wood trees from Perhutani. In order to preserve nature, this effort is also aimed at anticipating climate change, and supporting long-term economic benefits for the mothers of TPQ-D Kiyonten.
The distribution of white wood seedlings took place on Saturday (08/07), attended by representatives of LMI and the chairwoman of TPQ-D's mothers' association along with its members. Bu Eni, as the coordinator of TPQ-D's mothers' association, expressed gratitude to Perhutani and LMI for providing the seedlings and always supporting every activity.
"Alhamdulillah, we are very grateful for the seedlings provided. We can all contribute to the environment of Indonesia. We have started, let us all participate in preserving the environment around where we live," said Bu Eni.

Invite Children to Be Sensitive and Caring for Marine Ecosystems
BADUNG – In order to increase awareness of the preservation of marine ecosystems, LMI invited students from the SPMAA to plant 150 coral reefs on Pandawa Beach, Badung Regency, Saturday (June, 17th 2023). In this event, LMI also collaborated with the Bali Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) and the Bali Ornamental Coral Cultivator Group (KPKHN).
Jamil as the Head of LMI Bali Representative said that this activity was held as a form of LMI's concern for the maintenance and rescue of marine ecosystems. Marine inhabitants can live well if the place to live and the surrounding ecosystem are of good quality. The existence of marine pollution that has occurred lately makes us have to take more attention.
Through the Save Coral Reefs action, as many as 100 children directly participated in planting coral reefs around the beach. They received education directly from the Bali KPKHN team, starting from an introduction to various types of coral reefs, to how to plant coral reefs properly and correctly.
In addition to planting coral reefs, LMI also invited participants to clean the beach from trash scattered around. In this way, the participants will help maintain the condition of the beach and marine habitat so that it is cleaner and more well-maintained.

The capital city greening activity was carried out by LMI in collaboration with PT Nindya Karya. This tree planting program is part of the Social and Environmental Responsibility Program as well as celebrating the 63rd anniversary of PT Nindya Karya, which was held on Thursday (March 9th) on a new street, namely Jalan Layang Cakung, East Jakarta.
The types of trees planted are Tabebuya Pink and Ketapang Kencana. Attended by the Pulogebang Urban Village Head, Cakung Sub-District Head, East Jakarta Parks and City Forest Sub-agency Head, 100 Nindya Karya employees, and LMI volunteers. This is to support the sustainable development goals (SDGs), especially related to climate change and protecting terrestrial ecosystems.
The East Jakarta City Government really appreciates this activity, "Thank you to the LMI Jakarta team as the Mediator who has cared about the environment and helped green the capital, especially on the Cakung Flyover.", said Pak Djauhar Arifien, SP., M.Sc as Head of Parks and City Forest Sub-dept of East Jakarta .

Plant 1000 trees in the Provincial Forest of South Sulawesi, Indonesia
It is our responsibility as humans to preserve the environment in order to restore nature's function as it should. Because the environment is an important element for the survival of living things.
LMI collaborates with PT Nindya Karya to carry out the Green Economy Program: Agropolitan in order to provide real action on environmental sustainability. This program was implemented by planting 1,000 trees in Kale Ko'mara Village, North Polombangkeng District, Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi province.
The plants selected for this program are productive plants such as durian, rambutan and longan. The selection of this type of plant is also seen from the long-term benefits because in the next few years it will be able to provide production and income benefits for local residents.
Hopefully, this collaboration of kindness can help drive the local economy and reforest unproductive land in Kale Ko'mara Village.
Update Condition of Productive Forest on Senimba Hill, Batam City, Indonesia
BATAM - In August 2020, LMI planted 50 durian seedlings with a seedling height of around 50cm, currently they have grown an average of 1.5 meters. Phase 2, in December 2021 LMI together with Batam City volunteers plant 150 durian seedlings with an initial height of 1.5 meters, so that in 2023 the average plant height have reach 2 meters. Then phase 3 of planting carried out again in September 2022 with a total of 150 durian seeds which have an average height of 30cm.
Alhamdulillah, now 350 durian trees have grown in the Bukit Senimba Productive Forest. Our determination is to participate in contributing to the restoration of the stability of nature by continuing to increase the number of trees which are not only able to produce oxygen while binding water in the soil, but also as an effort to empower the surrounding community so that in the future they have additional economic resources that have a sale value.
Previously the LMI team had also tried to plant avocado seeds, but it turned out that the soil there was not suitable for planting avocados. So that out of 100 avocado seeds that were planted, only about 5 seeds were left
Maintenance the durian tree garden is carried out by do fertilization every 3 months, weeding the grass every rainy season, and treating insects that are at risk of damaging the plants.
Around the durian trees, the volunteers also planted banana trees, sweet potatoes, chilies, papayas, etc. Thank God, January 2023 Banana trees have started to bear fruit, cassava and chili leaves can be harvested. Even though this amount still cannot be sell on the market, it still can be a healthy daily intake for the family.

LMI Participated in the East Java Mangrove Festival
Sunday (Dec 4th) the Provincial Government of East Java again held the Mangrove Festival. This time the activity was carried out in Sampang Regency. The planting of thousands of mangrove seedlings was planted in three locations, namely South of Poltera Campus, around Camplong Mangrove Park, and around Taddan Harbor.
Attended by various elements ranging from government, community, universities and institutions such as LMI. This activity is in line with the program that is LMI's focus, namely "Nusantaraku Hijau" which supports the SDGs as part of the pillars of environmental development.
The oxygen produced by mangroves can be up to five times that of ordinary trees on land. This of course can have a positive impact on the welfare of living things. This activity is proof of our concern for Indonesia's nature.
Hopefully what we plant, grows into benefits for all of us.
Plant 1000 Mangrove on the Beach in Bali
Badung – The relationship between humans and nature cannot be separated. Whatever humans do can have an impact on the state and environmental sustainability. At the end of last September, LMI seeks to invite donors, orphans, and volunteers who love the environment to plant 1000 mangrove seedlings together.
The activity is located in Tanjung Benoa Village, South Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali Province. The theme this time was very interesting, namely "Mangrove Care - Our Mangrove Forest, Our Life". In addition to planting mangrove trees, LMI also cleans the beach from plastic waste that can damage mangrove growth. These orphans also learn to recognize the types of mangrove trees and their benefits.
Hopefully future generations like them will be more aware and aware of the importance of loving and preserving the environment. So that this event is not only limited to protecting the sea. But also as a form of education and efforts to foster social sensitivity.
Thank you to all parties involved in planting mangrove trees this time. Hopefully we can continue to be consistent together to protect the environment. Caring for nature means caring for the future. Save nature, save Indonesia!

Indonesia is an archipelagic country that has 17,000 islands with the fourth largest population in the world, which is around 270 million people. Indonesia also has the largest Muslim population in the world which is about 86.9% of the population is Muslim. But, unfortunately Indonesia is still included as the 100 poorest countries in the world.
Access to remote parts of Indonesia is very difficult. Apart from being scattered in islands, most of these remote areas still do not have adequate facilities. Unpaved roads, steep and winding terrain, access to schools, hospitals, and other public facilities is not easy to reach.
Therefore, we are obliged to assist and contribute to the distribution of aid and the provision of programs that can build Muslim communities in remote areas of Indonesia
[ Please Support by clicking this link ]
We design programs that are tailored to the needs of the local community, so that our assistance can be right on target. Such as providing educational scholarship, build mosque/musholla, qur'an distribution, medical assistance and health check, and etc.
For your kindness, I pray that Allah will bestow the blessings of your age, time and wealth.
Update on the Condition of the Trees planted by LMI in Gunungkidul
.
Last February 2022, the LMI team planted 1,842 avocado seedlings in Gunungkidul, DI Yogyakarta. Alhamdulillah, until now, LMI is still under treatment and monitoring. Around 1,439 seedlings were planted in the yards of residents' houses and another 503 seedlings were planted on vacant land. By involving village officials, community leaders, and local residents, as well as the formation of the Avocado Farmer group consisting of 16 people, this avocado tree received special attention to be protected.
Currently the avocado plant is 7 months old. There are various variants of avocado grown here, ranging from kendil, miki, alligator, to the Kali clear/pluang variant. Of all the trees planted, some grew well, but some died. About 12.8% of avocado seedlings died from the total seeds planted.
God willing, in November, the LMI team will replant avocados to replace damaged/dead plants so that the number of initial plantings can be maintained.
In the future, Laznas LMI hopes to realize the legitimacy/legality of avocado farmer groups and the realization of community empowerment centers from avocado fruit. Our target is to make this area an agro-tourism location for Avocado Village and avocado farming education. In addition, the results of avocado fruit will later bring up processed food products and handicrafts made from avocado.
Hopefully with this nature can be maintained by remaining a producer and economic support for the surrounding community. May Allah SWT make it easy for all of us. Amen.
Commemorating Environment Day, PT SMI and Laznas LMI Collaborate to Plant 25 thousand Trees on the Slope of Mount Wilis
TULUNGAGUNG - Laznas LMI and PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI) collaborated to plant 25 thousand trees in commemoration of World Environment Day which falls on June 5, 2022. That many trees were successfully planted with the help of 1000 volunteers from 58 communities in Tulungagung.
"Alhamdulillah, today is a historic day for all of us. Mount Wilis supports 40% water savings in Java. With this planting, it means that we are looking for charity, because the water is used by people on the island of Java," said Citra Widuri as Director of Empowerment Laznas LMI when giving a speech at the opening ceremony of planting, Sunday (6/5/2022), in Nglurup Village, Sendang District, Tulungagung Regency.
The planting on the Wilis Slope is the 3rd point which is part of the reforestation movement initiated by Laznas LMI together with PT SMI, after previously being carried out in the Blora, Central Java and Gunung Kidul areas, Yogyakarta. The fourth point is planned to be on the Meratus Slope, South Kalimantan.
This massive reforestation movement, InshaAllah will continue throughout 2022 with a target of planting up to 100 thousand trees in several provinces in Indonesia. Not only planted, but we are also committed to caring for them until they grow big so that they are expected to be able to contribute to dealing with the climate crisis that is happening.
The representative of the Governor of East Java, Aju Mustika Dewi, as the Head of Pollution and Environmental Damage Control, really appreciates this movement.
"This project is not only an effort to deal with the impact of climate change, but is also expected to be a development of the economic climate and tourism for the surrounding community by making it a Center for Agribusiness, Agro-tourism, and Agro-education." he concluded.
