HCI has a plan to reduce the hunger rate of families affected by the the economic meltdown that has driven more than half of Lebanese population into poverty. 

During the last 2 years, thousands of the most vulnerable families in Lebanon, including refugees, have been negatively impacted by the current socio-economic crisis in the country. 

The covid-19 pandemic has made the situation worse. The situation on the ground seems to be deteriorating during the coming months. 

The economic meltdown has driven more than half of its population into poverty and seen its currency lose more than 90 percent of its value in less than two years.

Our mission is to provide families in Lebanon with food packages that consist of essential items that will sustain them for one month.

Here's what's included in one of our kits. 

With your help, under our Zero Hunger Program, we plan to reduce the hunger rate of families directly affected by the economic crisis. 

Initially, we distributed food products, but, given the constant change in the situation, and the differences in needs between families (babies, girls, etc), we switched to reloadable cards (vouchers) that families can use to buy what they need each month.

BEFORE COVID-19

On October 17, 2019, a mass protests swept across the country shortly after the government announced new tax measures. Tens of thousands of peaceful protesters from different class sectors of society and religious assembled in cities across the country calling for social and economic reforms. 

This has been the largest protest in Lebanon in 14 years and has resulted in the complete shut down of the country, as a revolt against a weak government, ailing services, and a looming economic collapse continues to gain momentum.

HCI aims to provide vouchers, every month, to over 300 families who are suffering form the crisis. These vouchers will allow them to buy food and essential items that will sustain a family of 6 for upto one month.
