Summary: The us-Sunnah Foundation aims to solve poverty at the root rather than just treat the symptoms. Beyond monthly relief, we need your help to establish education, job training, shelters, and more. The WAQF program uses your donations to establish a recurring income that will help long-term.
Generally, every $50 given will produce $1 per month of recurring income meaning every donation will give 24x as much over a hundred years time... and continue giving until the end of time.
Note: Our previous campaign was closed due to LaunchGood changing payment processors but raised enough to secure consistent help for ~50 orphans every month. Help us reach our goal of 200 in this campaign, inshaa' Allah!
Bring a CHANGE that’s PERMANENT
Do you remember how hard it was to pay for housing, food, clothing, school, etc. when you were a small child? Most likely not, because all of this was provided to us by our parents without us having to worry. Unfortunately this is not the case for thousands of at-risk orphans that the us-Sunnah Foundation cares for.
Asking for donations every day for the orphans is unreliable and hard; often we fall short and a needy orphan goes without crucial relief. When our parents cared for us most had a regular paycheck that kept your lights on, kitchen stocked, and so on. By establishing a waqf, we can also provide a stable and ongoing source of income that can care for all the needs of our thousands of orphans with your one-time donation to help us complete our project.
Ongoing charity (sadaqat al-jariyah) is the most beloved charity to Allah and will earn you reward long after your death. By donating to establish sources of ongoing income (such as rental property) you can guarantee that our foundation can care for the orphans every month, reliably.
Every $50 donated establishes approximately $1 per month for hundreds of years to come. Additionally, through management and reinvestment, this amount grows over exponentially over time. This means over the next 100 years your donation could actually give well over 24x or more in actual relief to the needy... and continue doing so well after you return to Allah!

The us-Sunnah Foundation is a registered charity in the US (501c3) and Indonesia where we have cared for thousands of orphans and Rohingya refugees since 2014. We were founded with a waqf (endowment) mentality and started by using our private money to purchase and establish 2 rice fields and 8 apartments that provide regular food for our orphans as well as cover all our operational expenses without using any of the donations.
The Prophet ﷺ said, ❝When the son of Adam dies, all his good deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity, knowledge which others benefit, and a righteous child who prays for him.❞
Jaabir added, "There was no one among the Companions who had the means, but they established a waqf before death."

The thousands in great need meant that we expanded our relief efforts through a mixture of waqf and immediate monthly relief but have always found raising for immediate relief to be less reliable, less efficient, and make less impact over time. For example $100 could sponsor a single orphan for two months, but the same amount invested into our Waqf would generate a little more than $1 per month, every month, for hundreds of years to come and even grow over time to more. This makes a difference long-term while in about 4 years that donation would have provided the same amount of food as an immediate donation, over the course of 100 years it will have provided 25x more food, and continue to do so after you've returned to Allah.
Additionally by dedicating a portion of the Waqf income to expansion of the waqf itself, that same one time $100 donation starts at $1/mo doubles to $2/mo over time through this reinvestment, then again double to $4/mo in time again, and so on. As we expand our income sources we have both more income to feed orphans AND more to expand the Waqf going forward. In this way we plan to service thousands of orphans through your one time donations today.

The IMPACT of your INVESTMENT IN WAQF
As stated above a $100 donation can establish about $1 per month in recurring income but to maximize the impact we don't stop there. We would use half of this income to feed the orphans and the other half to increase the Waqf over time. In the short term this means slightly less does go to feeding the orphans but in the long-term much more does.
This is a 25 year chart that shows what $1 donated (which would give 1 cent per month at start) would equal cumulatively over that time.
The real impact comes over the long-term. In about 40 years both methods would have given the same in actual relief to orphans but the reinvestment starts to accelerate and after 50 years a single dollar donation would have given almost $14 to the needy instead of just under $7. This continues to grow over time allowing the us-Sunnah Foundation to service thousands, or even millions, of needy with consistent and reliable results.
Our MISSION
The us-Sunnah Foundation is a registered charity in the US (501c3) and Indonesia where we plan to eliminate poverty.. for good. With a poverty rate of over 51% this is a large mission and one which we need the help of our brothers and sisters everywhere for.
To accomplish this mission we plan to build relief centers in each district on major cities, one by one, that can help people directly and intimately in the way best needed to uplift them out of poverty, for good. These centers will focus not only on monthly food relief but also education, job training, youth programs, and more to make people self-sufficient and raise the next generation to be better than the current.
While we started with 2 rice fields and 8 apartments we hope that everyone will join us in our mission to create relief centers and help millions over time. Inshaa' Allah.

Every month hundreds of orphans and widows benefit through us-Sunnah's monthly food relief program. This is the primary target of the foundation and expansion will bring a network of local relief centers that will provide complete relief for each city district.
Shelters for Rohingya Muslims. Our relief efforts for the Rohingya includes 250 shelters and each shelter includes a year supply of food for up to 5 people. The shelters provide 3 meals a day, 365 days a year equaling to 1,368,750 meals! Inside Myanmar, we delivered more than 4000 food bags enough to feed a family of five for a month, equaling to more than 600,000 meals!
The us-Sunnah Foundation was founded by Ali Camarata, a former Christian and US military veteran who converted to Islam and now lives with his family in Indonesia where they established the foundation and operate along with a team of local staff and volunteers... dedicated to the elimination of poverty for good.

This year and the orphans in need..
Asalaamu'alaikum,
The us-Sunnah Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit charity in the US and Indonesia that cares for at risk and needy orphans. With a waqf that covers basic operational costs every donation goes 100% to the orphans, is zakat eligible, and tax deductible. Together with your donation and our local volunteers, we have been changing the lives or orphans for over a decade, alhamdulillah.
This year has been very difficult as some long time donors have been unable to help as much as before. With the decline in donations this has been the first time that we have had to cut back and help less orphans since we were founded. For our volunteers on the ground it is heart breaking to see the orphans that we're unable to help.

The us-Sunnah Foundation (ussunnah.org) is a registered 501c3 charity that has been helping orphans and refugees for over a decade by the mercy of Allah and our great donors such as yourself. Every donation is tax-deductible and zakat-eligible.
Your charity is an amanat which is why we are completely volunteer based with a waqf to cover any administrative needs. This means we have a true 100% donation policy so every donation makes a maximum impact and difference in a young life. Actually many of our volunteers were orphans we helped when our mission began over a decade ago.
