We believe that safe and resilient communities are created when we come together and lift up one another. The strength and love we cultivate in our relationships, through our members, their families, and our extended community allow us to thrive. Together we can make the dream of a safe and resilient community a reality.

We are dreaming big and asking you to dream big with us. Please join us in raising $35,000 by Nov. 5.

Project Hajra has remained dedicated to providing peer-run support by and for Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, and South Asian (AMEMSA) survivors of state and interpersonal violence since 2011, when it was formed in partnership with CONNECT-NYC. Our current work grows out of years of building AMEMSA- and survivor-led gender justice programs that offer long-term, community-based alternatives to mainstream interpersonal violence crisis-response services. We believe that true safety is in the love, knowledge, and skills that are already present in our communities.

Our $35,000 fundraising goal will be directed to three critical areas.

• $15,000: 3-month stipends for first-generation survivor co-coordinators who lead all Project Hajra programs, including healing circles, safety teams, emergency fund distribution, crisis calls, and follow-ups
• $15,000: Crisis and emergency funds, directed toward situations related to interpersonal/domestic violence, relocation, health emergencies, food, and hygiene
• $5,000: Community-based doula training for three Afghan refugee members
