The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased)."

ABOUT US

Assalamu Alaikum,

MAS Staten Island is a fairly new masjid. We are located at 180 Burgher Avenue, Staten Island, New York, 10304.  It was established in 2011. In a short span of time, MAS Staten island has already accomplished much. From purchasing the 2 lots next door to expand the masjid in the near future. We also have Outreach events like the MAS Many Meals Pantry program and Blood Drives as well as Youth Events and programs such as Weekly Halaqa's and recreational activities which touched the hearts of many and made a direct impact on the community.

The Call to Action

The exponential growth of Muslim Community in Staten Island has been a blessing for MAS SI. With great influx of new Muslim families in SI, space has started to become an issue. During high capacity events such as Jummah & Ramadan, we have people praying outside, sometimes in the scorching heat of the sun, sometimes snow and sometimes rain. As you can see below- the masjid isn't big enough to service the large number of attendees on a daily basis. MAS SI has noted the dire need for larger accommodations and will be expanding soon!

The Solution:

MAS Staten Island will build a brand new 3 floor center and expand over to the 2 lots purchased recently next to the masjid. MAS SI is currently entertaining a few proposals and those proposals include:

• Full / Half indoor basketball courts ( depending on budget / costs)

• Youth lounge

• Larger Prayer area

• New bathrooms ( Currently the men section only has 2 sinks!)

• Classrooms

• Library

• Garden on the roof

• Kitchen

MAS Staten Island offers many activities. we offer Weekly Halaqa, for brothers, sisters and Pre-Teens. Few times a month, MAS SI, also invites scholars and speakers to educate the community on sacred knowledge and discuss crucial issues such as mental health, identity crisis that is plaguing our youth. MAS Staten Island also offer support activities like soccer and a basketball league ( currently we are renting a church's indoor basketball court)

• Five times prayers, Friday Jummah prayer, both Eid prayers

• Camping, Umrah trips.

• Janazah prayers

• MAS ICNA trips

• Paint balling, Bowling

• Canvas Painting

• Khatme-Taraweeh, Qiamul-Lail  

• Islamic education - Arabic, essentials of daily life, Islamic Studies

• Memorization of Quran

• Regular Discussions of Islamic Issues

• Sunday School

MAS Staten Island also has out reach programs in place. MAS does food Pantry every 3 weeks to give back to the community- below are some of the volunteers
