Masjid Al-Salaam is asking for your help in allowing our Muslim boys and girls to tread that path to knowledge. If the path to Paradise is made easy by God for those who search for knowledge, then imagine what Allah (SWT) would do for those who help others on that path. 

Masjid Al-Salaam is in the heart of Dunedin, Florida. It is the only Masjid that serves the area, both spiritually and socially. This Masjid has helped the influx of refugees finds work, housing, and work. Food pantries and Sunday Schools have run for years out of the few spare rooms in the building. In the community, they are a pillar and a wonderful example of Islam to the general Dunedin population. 

Board members, and community members alike, look for a need and the community and rush together to address it. However, the need today is much larger and needs everyone’s help. 

A full-time Islamic school in Pinellas exists only in St Petersburg, roughly 18 miles away. With a county that averages over one million residents, the travel time for the families in North Pinellas County is quite prohibitive. This leaves the thousands of Muslims in the county with no option for their children other than secular public schools. 

The need for a full-time Islamic school is there for all those children. The need for Islamic-based learning with safe campuses for our sons and daughters is critical. Masjid Al-Salaam is wishing to take the first step to making it a reality. That first step involves raising the money to renovate the building to accommodate the students in the proposed school. 

A general contractor has estimated that the cost would be approximately $500,000 to get the building ready for students. Masha Allah, the Masjid has already privately raised $93,000. Inshallah, while the board members are busy raising the funds needed to get this project going, we have others who are researching North American Islamic School accreditation and grants from the Florida Dept of Education for academic curriculum supplies. Research has been done to make sure that Florida vouchers can be used for those students who qualify so that tuition is not an issue for any child who wants a wholesome, well-rounded Islamic education.
