On Friday night at 11.11pm, a devastating 6.8 magnitude earthquake, originating in Morocco's High Atlas mountains. The earthquake has killed almost 1,000 lives and over 600 more have been injured.

In Marrakech, some buildings in the old city including a Unesco world heritage site, have been damaged or destroyed and the search has begun to find missing people who are trapped in the rubble following the disaster.
