MSA are taking part in the Al-Noor Boat Race 2024 to empower women back into the outdoors and meet personal goals. It will be a chance to take part in a team challenge.
MSA is fundraising for much needed funds to restart and sustain activities which had closed due to the pandemic. The funds will also be used to sponsor and subsidise participants who are unable to take part in our workshops or life skills due to financial reasons. We will also be investing into training and upskilling our coaches who need support and help to continue our much needed work.
Established in 2014, the Muslimah Sports Association (MSA) achieved charitable status in 2019. Garnering accolades across the sports industry, MSA strategically targets ethnically diverse females, predominantly from Muslim backgrounds. The organisation achieves this through a comprehensive array of sports offerings, forging pivotal partnerships with key stakeholders.
Not merely content with fostering participation, MSA extends avenues for Muslim women to assume roles as coaches and volunteers across a spectrum of sports, including football. The impact of MSA transcends physical health, delving into the realm of enhanced mental well-being. The creation of a supportive sisterhood stands as a testament to MSA's commitment, empowering women to script their unique narrative—*HER*Story.
The Annual Boat Race is an event which has been established by the Al-Noor Foundation in the Summer of 2018, at Fairlop Waters in the London Borough of Redbridge. The next event takes place this year on Saturday the 6th July 2024
The event is open to all schools, faith groups, charities and corporate organisations. The event aims to unite the community whereby individuals, families and organisations have the opportunity to raise money for charitable causes which are close to their hearts, by simply registering for a boat and participating in the race.
Boat races are part of the great heritage of British culture and an amazing way to unite both competitors and communities together behind a common cause. Dragon Boat racing is something which is growing in popularity in the UK, originating from Southern China’s Guangdong Province.
The boats we will be using can accommodate up to 17 riders at a time and will be provided by a specialist Dragon Boat company which the Foundation has partnered up with to run the event.
