Breaking Hunger, Building Futures, Restoring Dignity

Our Story

Muslim Harmony Trust is a Canadian charity dedicated to fostering unity and strengthening connections across our diverse society, offering essential social services, particularly for vulnerable community members in crisis. With a deep sense of responsibility, we are committed to uplifting lives and building a more inclusive and compassionate Canada, where trust, respect, unity, and harmony flourish for every member of our community.

Why We Need Your Support

Food insecurity has become a critical issue across Canada in recent years, with a dramatic increase in the number of individuals and families unable to access sufficient, nutritious food. Recent data shows that over 2 million visits were made to food banks in 2024, the highest in Canadian history, reflecting a sharp rise in demand[1]. In Ontario alone, over 1 million people relied on food banks, a 25% increase from the previous year, while in Toronto, more than 1 in 10 residents sought food assistance[2]. Additionally, nearly 44% of Canadians reported being financially worse off than the previous year, further deepening the crisis[3]. In 2023, nearly 24% of households in Ottawa faced food insecurity[4]. This issue has significant health implications, as individuals in food-insecure households are more likely to suffer from depression, anxiety, chronic diseases, and other health concerns[5].

This alarming trend means more families are uncertain about their next meal, often forced to choose between essential expenses like rent and food.

Introducing the Mercy Project: Nourishing Ottawa, One Meal at a Time

This Ramadan, a month dedicated to giving, caring, and sharing, Muslim Harmony Trust  is launching the Mercy Project to combat hunger and foster hope within our community. Our initiatives include:

  • Nutritious Meal Deliveries: Providing wholesome meals to families in need, ensuring they maintain dignity and health.
  • Bulk Food Packages: Distributing essential food supplies to households facing food insecurity.
  • Community Meal Drives: Bringing the community together to share meals and compassion, strengthening our bonds.

Why Your Support Matters

Every meal you help provide creates a ripple effect of positive change:

  • For Children: They can focus on learning without the distraction of hunger.
  • For Parents: They find hope and relief through community support.
  • For Families: They experience the joy and dignity of sharing meals together.
