Muslim Outdoor Adventures is dedicated to fostering a deep connection with nature, building confidence, and nurturing a strong sense of community through outdoor exploration. We are committed to creating a welcoming and safe environment for individuals and families of diverse backgrounds to appreciate the wonders of the outdoors. Our mission revolves around breaking down barriers and promoting diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility, while upholding the values of faith, kindness, and resilience. Through a range of activities and events, we strive to provide opportunities for individuals to get involved in outdoor activities, develop new skills, and embrace the transformative influence of nature.

Fundraising Objectives

For more than a year we've been running Muslim Outdoor Adventures as a non-profit organization, charging $0 for all of our events. In that time, we've gone to more than 3,400 members, and connected countless outdoorsy Muslims together, hosted hundreds of hikes, hosted Iftar outdoors during Ramadan, and many other events. While trying to minimize any overhead we incur, there still has been cost associated with running a non-profit. From the cost of incorporating, to hosting and domain costs, to the cost of booking permit for iftar and BBQ events. This fundraiser ensures we can run this organization in a sustainable manner, and to build a budget that will help us expand our programming, and give back to the leads.

The money raised will be used for things like:

1. Paying for administrative costs of running an org (Incorporation, Renewal, Tax filing)

2. Paying for tools to help us keep our presence online (webhosting, domain, email accounts)

3. Marketing (social media management tools)

4. Park permits for social events (Iftar / BBQ)

5. Train our hike leads in First Aid

6. Expand programming 

Philosophy

The Muslim Outdoor Adventures is a non-profit, volunteer run club that believes in responsible use of outdoor spaces. As Muslims we hold deep awe and respect for nature, and promote responsible use of land. We advocate for conservative use of natural resources, protection of environment and principles of sustainability. We believe Muslims are under-represented in the outdoors community, due to lack of opportunities and awareness. Through our educational, outreach and guided programs we aim to get more Canadian Muslims involved in outdoor spaces and become leaders in sustainable and responsible use of the land.
