We have been organizing educational programs, trainings, and free time activities for the youth in Hungary for the past 3 years. We have great training programs in mind and with an office space, they could all come true! Support us to be able to rent a suitable space for a year and we will organize weekly trainings, create an online video series for young people and youth workers as well and you can join us in our 3-day international Training session and Conference in the heart of Europe, the beautiful Budapest!

So far we had to organize our events mainly outdoors because renting event spaces proved to be too expensive. You can help us change this today!

Our aim is also to become self-sustainable by the end of the first year, which would mean your support will carry on for many years to come biiznillah!

Our Story and Mission

We are the MIT (Abbrev. for Muszlim Ifjusági Társaság, Muslim Youth Association) an organization founded in August of 2015, Budapest.
We are a team of enthusiastic youth who are talented, motivated, inspired and energetic, who all feel a huge responsibility towards the Muslim
community, the Hungarian society and the perception of Islam globally. Our seniors have done a great job spreading the message of Islam in Hungary, but the new generation has new ways of seeing the world and its issues. So far we as a small group of Muslim youth born and raised in the country had a lack of opportunities and organization to express our thoughts and put our ideas into practice. The current political climate in Hungary also makes it more challenging to be active and "visible" Muslims. 

MIT was founded so that the young people living in minority trying their best to
practice their faith, facing multiple difficulties wouldn’t have to battle them alone but they can enjoy being Muslim in their environment with
easier communication and unity. Dawah is also our all-time goal and mission.

The Project

Renting an office space would mean the world to us. At the moment we have a storage space for some of our equipment by the help of our community, the Organization of Muslims in Hungary, who support our work in many ways, but unfortunately, the masjid building itself is not suitable for further, regular events for our growing numbers. 

We have attended several pieces of training and educated ourselves to be able to handle and address the Muslim youth with expertise and various techniques.

Our focus is on the 15-25 year age group as we found that they are especially sensitive to the challenges of our day and age. They face specific difficulties and problems which are many times unaddressed or not dealt with properly. Also, they are the most creative and open-minded during this period of their lives and will greatly rely on the knowledge they gain in it for their future decisions. We are here to listen to them, help them in their personal development, entertain them in a halal way and develop a sense of belonging in them. The youth-to-youth approach is very important for us as it has proven to be an effective medium, allowing all of our members to open up and communicate freely, as they see a more approachable perspective, rather than receiving monotonous information from the older generation (and often being reluctant or ignoring it). We are working closely with the masjid as well, making sure that all the knowledge we pass on is 100% accurate and appropriate.

We would use the year of opportunity to:

# Create and host weekly trainings (in English, Hungarian and Arabic in order to reach our various audiences)

# Design and make a 12 part video series for young adults (youth-to-youth approach)

# A 12 part video series for youth workers (tips, techniques, sharing our experiences)

# Hold a 3-day international training session and conference in beautiful Budapest

# Have fundraising events (to secure our sustainability)

# Become a community space with open hours to socialize (girls and boys would get their separate times or spaces depending on the office size)

# Publish dawah and islamic material aimed at the youth that is interesting and modern looking

# Invite other religious youth groups to participate in a friendly dialog

# Become more "visible" as Muslims, showing a more professional and approachable image in our judgemental society

# Be a reliable link to the larger Muslim community

# Attend open-lessons at primary and secondary schools where the children could hear about Islam first hand from their peers 

# The training space would be open and available for all other Muslim Youth Organizations to use it free of charge!

About the training sessions:

We would dedicate a lot of time to create and develop short trainings (2-4 hours/session) that are effective, give value and experience each time.

In phase one we would like to focus on the inner self and provide nourishment for the mind and soul. Our topics would be:

• Spiritual health and wealth

• How to stay focused in the modern jungle (self-management)

• Personal development

• Reflect, offload and carry on

In phase two we would attempt to challenge the “difficult topics” that concern a young adult in their environment, relationships and the society.Our topics would be:

• Social awareness

• Essentials before getting married

• Troubling relationships-how can I handle them?

• You know that we know that you know-unfolding the taboo’s of our generation

In phase three we would like to work with and pay attention to the young families and also the parents with teenager kids by creating workshops and open discussions.

These two groups might not be directly the youth but are very close to them and are impacted as well. Many parents are struggling to understand their children who grow up in a drastically different society. We could help them with an insight and possible techniques they can use to get through to their stubborn ones. Also as our members grow up in sha Allah will all start families and we see it as an important duty to support them further, with helpful knowledge and advice.

In the organization, we are working with born-muslims, reverts and also youth who have distanced themselves from the religion but want to come back to the path of Allah. 

We believe that our work is very important and trying to do our best to dedicating much time, beside our busy schedule of work and study, in order to improve the lives of thousands of Muslims and change our image as an Ummah in the community.
