The past few months have been challenging with spikes in anti-Black, xenophobic crimes and harmful policies following the death of George Floyd. To combat the tide of bigotry, bias, and discrimination, our goal is to build upon Islamic principles of transformative organizing and holistic education.
The design for the shirt was inspired by the raised Black fist used to represent Black power. The Arabic calligraphy reads "No Justice No Peace" to symbolize Muslim solidarity with the BLM movement. It was designed by a member of the Siraat Apparel team. We can educate ourselves in order to create a society where everyone is safe, welcome, and equal.
All proceeds collected will be donated to MuslimARC. The option to purchase a shirt to stand in solidarity is available when donating. Once you select one of the giving levels, you will be prompted to choose a shirt size.
MuslimArc
MuslimARC is a human rights education organization that focuses on bystander intervention training and strategic coalition-building. Their goal is to create Muslim communities and individuals who develop a positive self-identity and appreciation for diversity, support racial equality, create a cross-cultural dialogue, become allies with racially discriminated communities, and promote justice. Their training workshops address personal bias and systemic racism.
