From $0.50 You Could Help Poor Students Stay in School

Poverty and hunger stand in the way of education for many underprivileged students in Malaysia. More than 1 in 10 children in Malaysia have less than 3 meals per day, forcing them to live in hunger. Plus, many poor children are skipping school because their families would rather send them to work and earn supplemental income for the family.  

A child should not worried about how much food they get to eat or leaving school to work and support their family. From $0.50, you could change their lives by providing a meal and help them stay in school. At the same time, you are also uplifting their families from poverty. 

Your Ramadan infaq will help underprivileged students stay in school and support their meals for a year. 

Feed to Educate

More than 400,000 households in Malaysia are living in poverty and since the Covid-19 pandemic, many are falling into poverty. 

Education is the first step in breaking the poverty cycle and once it’s implemented at every level, poverty can be alleviated, with children staying in school and parents increasing their income without relying on their children. 

Hence, Charity Right developed “Feed to Educate”, a sustainable project to end poverty from the core in Malaysia. 

​By contributing to this project, you are helping underprivileged students to stay in school and providing them meals for a year. This way, they get to focus on their studies without hunger and achieving their dreams for a better future. 

Your support will also help to break the poverty cycle and bringing financial stability to the 350 poor families that we have chosen for this project. 

In 2020, our Feed To Educate program, in collaboration with RCE (Regional Centre of Excellence) Greater Gombak, has been recognised by United Nations University for its contribution to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 1: No Poverty.

How Are We Going to Make This Possible?

“Feed to Educate” sets out to execute a list of action plans, starting with only students with 80% attendance are eligible to receive this aid, and the student’s health and academic performance will be monitored.   

Charity Right will be distributing monthly food boxes filled with essential and nutritious food items to the selected 350 families through schools. Each food box can last a family of 4 for a month and provide 120 meals.

Together with our partners, we will be conducting a one-year entrepreneurship program for the parents to earn extra income and improve their livelihood. The families can be financially sustainable without relying on their children to work for extra income.

To make this a reality, we need to raise $100,000 to support our project and ensure underprivileged children get to stay in school and do not have to live in hunger. This will also uplift 350 families from the poverty cycle and giving their children a better quality of life.
