Yesterday, our dear friends Sumaya, Gibran and their young daughter Aya learned that their home in Altadena was destroyed overnight in the Eaton Fire.  Fortunately, they were able to evacuate safely in time with their dogs as well as a few belongings, and are staying with family for the time being. 

They are full of gratitude for all those who have reached out asking how they can offer support. With their permission, we ask that you donate here and share the link with anyone who knows them or wants to help survivors of this stunning tragedy. 

Their home and their beloved Altadena community is in ashes and they are left, like so many others, with grief and many difficult decisions to make in the days ahead. 

Sumaya and Gibran have spent their careers serving marginalized communities, vulnerable families, abuse survivors, and social justice activists. They are tireless community workers and we ask you to give generously to support them as they rebuild their lives insha Allah.
