There are as many as 15 million disabled people in Pakistan. Many are discriminated against, stigmatised and forgotten. This Ramadan we have a chance to change that.

Millions of people in Pakistan have different forms of disabilities. People with disabilities (PWDs) have varied conditions ranging from cognitive, developmental, mental, physical to sensory impairmentsYet, society and state institutions have remained largely oblivious to the needs of disabled people, even though many of them could become well-integrated and productive members of society.

By supporting Wheels to Heal’s (www.wheelstoheal.org.uk)  Pakistan Ramadan Mobility Aid Container 2024 Campaign you will helping these very people highlighted. The 40ft container will be filled with over 500 recycled aids such as wheelchairs, zimmer frames, rollators, walking sticks, commodes, hoists, care beds and much more. 

In Sindh, Pakistan we are working in conjunction with our established charity partner - Disabled Welfare Association, www.dwa-pk.org, to help distribute these life transforming aids.

By responding to this appeal you will also be supporting an entirely volunteer led charity recycling life transforming aids that would otherwise end up in landfill, and gifting them to people and institutes in desperate need who can only dream of such provisions.   

A report has revealed that Pakistan could be losing 6.3% of its GDP due to the exclusion of persons with disabilities (PwDs). If this continues, the economic cost of exclusion is estimated at USD $33 million per day, every day.

Disabled Welfare Association is a Sindh based Organization of People with Disabilities (OPD) is a registered organization under the 1961 ordinance of Govt of Pakistan in 2003. DAW offer a range of services tailored to the unique needs of disabled individuals. These include accessibility support, assistive technology resources, counseling services, and community outreach programs designed to enhance their quality of life.
