Award-Winning Poet, Me??

Alhamdulillah and mashaAllah, in 2019, a publisher decided to publish my as-yet-private poems to the world. We had a LaunchGood pre-order campaign with a humble goal of $2,500. The campaign ended up raising 252% of it's goal, and the funds allowed “Desiring Light” (final title ended up being different than the one we started the campaign with) to be published, printed and reach bookstores and readers across Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, United States, Canada, United Kingdom and more. 

To date, more than 800 copies have been sold and more amazingly, “Desiring Light" won the Daybreak Press Book Award in 2021 in the Collections/Anthology category! SubhanAllah.

Truly, I could never have imagined the journey “Desiring Light” would take me on. And I am so honored and humbled that my words and experiences have resonated with so many, and I pray that they continue to accompany readers and seekers alike for many years to come, inshaAllah.

Pre-Orders For 2nd Poetry Collection Now Open!

Following the success of “Desiring Light”, I am excited today to share that my 2nd poetry collection is ready for pre-orders! 

“These Ramadan Lights” is a collection of 60 poems - one poem written for each day of Ramadan over 2 Ramadans. Ramadan, as we know, is one of the most spiritual times for a Muslim. The fasting, the tarawih, the charity, the iftar - all the spiritual endeavours in the month, combined with the increased blessings and mercy and openings, makes it the perfect time, and my most favourite time, to take all those spiritual experiences and reflections and distill them into poems.

I shared many of these poems with friends and followers on my Instagram account, who in turn shared them to their networks. It was always so lovely to hear from Muslim strangers across the globe at how universal these spiritual experiences can be.

Alhamdulillah, the manuscript is ready and edited. We are currently in the process of typesetting and designing the book. 

You can expect to receive your copies by August - November 2022. The book will only be available in local retail stores in December 2022, and international ones even later, so do pre-order your copies through the LaunchGood campaign to get them early AND to enjoy the discount!
