At a time when support for immigrants and refugees is needed most, we, like many others, are facing funding challenges. We don't know what the future looks like. What we know is that, for however long this work is needed, our team is ready to be nimble, innovative, and ready for a challenge. We're grateful for any support you can give in helping us meet our goals this month.

Who we are:

Project ANAR is a small, grassroots immigration legal services & advocacy organization that is founded and led by Afghan women. We are the only Afghan community-based organization with a focus on free immigration legal services! We have served over 10,000 community members with critical immigration legal support and tens of thousands through our resources and advocacy since launching as a grassroots effort in 2021. We have done this, in large part, by recruiting, training and supporting over 1,000 community and legal volunteers. Read more about our impact here! 

Since October 2024 alone, we have served over 1,200 Afghan and other immigrant and refugees through our community-based legal services, immigration legal Know Your Rights information and education, and social services/resources orientation + navigation. 

Who we serve:

Afghan, Muslim, and other immigrant and refugee communities. We focus on serving those who cannot find help elsewhere. This includes detained Muslim asylum seekers, students, families who arrived after crossing the border, and others who are separated from their loved ones. We started to help those in our community left out of the dominant narratives--Afghans from all walks of life who don't have access to refuge yet were displaced by U.S. foreign policy. 

Our vision and mission:

An immigrant community that is empowered to partake in individual and collective advocacy. An end to the systems that displace our communities to begin with.

This month, Project ANAR needs your support to ensure we can:

• Provide our annual community iftar for newcomer/asylum-seeker families
• Distribute critical know your rights resources and connect newcomers to social services
• Hold legal services workshops to help people with immigration applications, including asylum, work authorization, and Green Cards
• Provide language access for our webinars and translate our new resources
• Continue to connect detained Muslim asylum seekers to critical legal support through our volunteer network
