Why Gaza?

Unemployment is rife as businesses who rely on trade cannot operate efficiently as a result of restricted access into and out of Gaza.

Water is a vital, albeit extremely scarce in the territory. The lack of drinkable, safe water is a major limitation to the growth of the economy, and already threatens the livelihood of the growing population. The demand for water is accelerating at a high rate. Freshwater availability per capita per year is one of the lowest in the world. 

Some households only receive a trickle of water every couple of days; families are rationing their water or paying a hugely inflated price to have access to extra provisions - countless people don't have the means to do so, and are forced to use salty, diseased water.

For those who rely on agriculture, there isn't enough water to keep their crops and animals healthy; plants die and milk yields drop, putting livelihoods at risk. Poor sewage infrastructure further compounds the problems, and with high temperatures, food shortages and limited access to medical care, the lack of water can be life threatening, especially to the most vulnerable.

Water scarcity has played a large part in the present conflict. The chronic lack of water in Palestine and the occupied territories causes problems of environmental degradation, which are a serious impediment to agricultural productivity.

What are we doing to help?

Our Gaza Water Tanker is a refillable vessel that delivers clean water. We work to reach areas where water supplies are restricted or contaminated. We provide stainless steel storage tanks to places such as schools, orphanages, hospitals and places of worship which can be filled efficiently and regularly, these tanks are durable and long-lasting.

The locations we visit are often rife with disease and the cleanliness of water can mean the difference between life and death.

Water dehydration can also have long-term side effects on your body: 

• Severely decreased urine output or no urine output. The urine, if any, produced is concentrated and a deep yellow or amber color.
• Dizziness or lightheadedness that does not allow the person to stand or walk normally.
• Blood pressure drops when the person tries to stand after lying down (low blood pressure or orthostatic hypotension)
• Rapid heart rate
• Fever
• Poor skin elasticity (skin slowly sinks back to its normal position when pinched)
• Lethargy, confusion, or coma
• Seizure
• Shock
