Qurbani 2020
The Messenger (PBUH) was asked what Qurbani is, he answered, “It is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim. For every hair of the Qurbani you receive a reward from Allah.” (Al-Tirmidhi)
Feed the destitute by offering your Qurbani with CAP Foundation
At Cap Foundation, we recognise that many families living in poverty will not have the means to participate in Qurbani. We have 500 children in our School Academies who comes from destitute families and majority which are orphans. With your help, we will carefully select an animal for you and distribute the meat for you locally to our destitute children, widows and orphans. We always ensure that the meat is sourced locally, meaning that the benefit of your donation is not only felt by the families you’re supporting but their local communities too.
Qurbani is the act of offering the sacrifice of an animal to Allah (SWT) on Eid-ul-Adha and is one of the obligatory acts of Hajj. All Muslim adults who are eligible to pay Zakat must make the sacrifice.
Qurbani is wajib on every Muslim who is of sound mind, mature (who has reached the age of puberty), museum (i.e. he is not a traveller) and possesses the amount of fifty-two and a half totals of silver (612-36 grams) or wealth equivalent to that value which is in excess of one’s basic needs.
What is Qurbani?
The word Qurbani means offering and is the ritual of sacrificing an animal, a goat, sheep, cow or camel, during the month of Dhul Hijjah, the twelfth and final month of the Islamic Calendar. The practice of Qurbani is a recognition of the sacrifice made by the Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son for the sake of Allah (SWT).
Every year, to commemorate his sacrifice, every able-bodied Muslim is expected to provide a Qurbani donation in three shares, one to help those living in poverty, one to feed friends and family and one to keep for themselves.
