What your Qurbani means to the forgotten refugees

It’s hard to imagine the severe hunger, hardship, and conditions in which Eritrean refugees are living. For most of these forgotten refugees the only time they ever get to taste meat is when you send your Qurbani to them.

Even then, we meet refugees every year who’ve missed out previously and have never tasted meat in their entire lives.

They sacrifice so much every day. Let us include them in our spiritual sacrifice.

Your Qurbani isn’t just much needed nutrition – it’s a huge spiritual boost and reminds the refugees that we share our happiness with them, our brothers and sisters.

Sacrifice: the meaning of Qurbani

At this time, we’re reminded of the willingness of our beloved Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to make the most difficult sacrifice. We strive to follow his example by making a small sacrifice and giving the meat to those who need it.

The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) used to give Qurbani on behalf of those in the Ummah who could not do so themselves. This year, why not offer a Qurbani in Sudan?

“It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is piety from you.”    (Qur’an 22:37)
