Introduction:
By the mercy of Allah ﷻ, the Hajj season is fast approaching and with Allah’s permission, the Mauritania Foundation is accepting your Qurbani payments for the sacrifice of sheep and cows for distribution to the poor and needy throughout Mauritania. The cost of one sheep is $170 USD, the cost of one cow is $670 USD, and the cost of one camel is $1500.
Our Goal:
This year we are aiming to distribute
To the people of Mauritania this blessed Eid al-Adha. This totals to $69,750.
Virtues of Eid al-Adha and Qurbani
Eid al-Adha is the second of the two eids following Eid al-Fitr. It presides itself in the month of Dhul-Hijjah – a blessed month when the Muslims perform their obligatory pilgrimage to Mecca and follow in the footsteps of the Prophet Ibrahim (May Allah's peace be upon him).
It was narrated Our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to sacrifice one ram for himself and offer another on behalf of his ummah and those that could not afford to do it themselves:
"The Prophet ﷺ sacrificed for the one who could not sacrifice from his ummah, one who bore witness to the Oneness of Allah ﷻ and his (ﷺ) Prophethood." (Narrated by Tabarani and Ahmad)
An Insight into Villages of Mauritania
These past years, Mauritania Foundation has helped raise and deliver necessities to the people of Mauritania. Every Hajj Season, Mauritania Foundation emphasizes the virtues of delivering Qurbani in this blessed month. In a recent study, performed by the United Nations' World Food Programme, it stated that 1 in 5 children is chronically malnourished. This is a country where over 90% of the population lives in the rural desert landscape, where the only source of nourishment comes from villagers' own farms and livestock.
Given the rise in climate change, recent droughts have negatively affected the economy and have intensified the poverty in the region. As Muslims, it is our duty to aid our fellow brothers and sisters, especially in such a blessed month where giving has been greatly recommended.

Below are some photos that captured the event of Qurabni distribution in the past years. We have fed thousands, if not tens of thousands of families, and have only managed to do so with the help of gracious donors. Jazakallahukhairan for your continuous support; we ask that you share this campaign with those that you believe will take it to heart. May Allah ﷻ bless and reward you all.
