I founded Qutor.com because I could not find a Quran Tutor for my children
Assalamu Alaykum, my name is Samir Feroze. As a father of four young children, I faced the difficult task of finding a Quran teacher who was willing to travel to our house outside the city centre. Given my Computer Science and Engineering background, my instinct was to solve the problem through technology and build a platform to connect Quran tutors and students online. Having pulled together a great team, we started building Qutor in 2015 and launched in June 2016. One year on, there is a great need to build a companion Mobile app for Qutor and this is where we need your help.

Over the last year, more than 10,300 students have registered on Qutor and over 15,700 classroom sessions have taken place in our web-based classroom. We have also evaluated and trained over 250 Quran tutors from around the world. These stats continue to rise daily Alhamdulillah and are shown on our homepage.
Innovative Features
We have also built innovative tools like "Parental Watch" so parents can view snippets of classroom sessions after their child completes each lesson. This allows them to keep an eye on the progress and monitor the tutor's performance, even if they are not able to sit through the lesson with their child.
Make Quran learning accessible to those without computers
We have received many requests from existing users as well as those without access to a computer to build a mobile app. With your help, we can make it possible for a great number of people to find and connect with a Quran teacher almost instantly, whenever and wherever they are.
Help Quran teachers earn an income
Some Quran teachers cannot afford an internet connection and a computer. We feel that it is necessary to provide a solution for such Quran tutors to be able to teach online. With your help, we can provide the means for such tutors to teach using the mobile app.
We can meet our monthly costs, but the Mobile app is still outside our reach
Over the last two years, I have used all my available funds to get Qutor to where it is today. Our website is able to sustain itself through the small fee we charge students to use Qutor's classroom (starting at $12.99 per month for 10 hours up to $29.99 per month for 30 hours). Qutor is FREE for tutors to use.

The monthly revenue pays for the servers, the streaming costs and our awesome web development team but we cannot save up enough to get the Mobile app built without your help.

Our next big challenge is to replicate the website's success (Alhamdulillah) through a companion mobile app. This is where we need your help.

How will we use the funds we collect?
The money raised through the pre-orders and scholarship gifts will be used for the design, development, testing and marketing of the Mobile app for Qutor in sha Allah. We have found a great mobile development team and the build is likely to take four months. The funds will come into the company we have set up to operate Qutor, which is called National Logistics & Technology.
What do I get in return for donating?
For every student who finds a Quran teacher through the app, you will in sha Allah share in the reward from Allah (swt). Help us empower students and especially parents of young children to find and connect with the best online Quran tutors by:
- Helping fund the mobile app by pre-ordering a package or gifting a scholarship to a deserving student;

Why Qutor?
In case you are wondering why I invested my savings into building Qutor, I thought I would add a little background about myself and my motivation to connect Quran Students and Tutors around the world.
I have always been entrepreneurial. I remember coming up with business plans as early as eleven years of age. I studied Engineering at UCL and Computer Science at Cambridge and joined an Investment Bank at the age of 21. I soon realised just how fragile the system was and left banking by the age of 23 and embarked on a new career in Computer Science. I felt there was more opportunity to make a mark in technology and earn a halal living; something I had become more aware of as I continued to learn more about Islam.
By the time I was 28, I had founded a software company to provide development services to start-ups. For 11 years, I lead my team to build websites and mobile apps for others, but always hoped to find enough time and money to build my own start-up one day. With a young family to support, this was easier said than done. When my search for a Quran tutor for my children began, I recognized the difficulty in finding good Quran tutors and the seeds for Qutor began to form in my mind. It became clear that this was an area where our team could make an impact and make life easier for Quran students and tutors around the world.
As I became increasingly passionate about building Qutor, I decided to focus all my energy into it and made the intention that our start-up had to serve Islam so it may be pleasing to Allah (swt), while delivering value to its users.
