As a nonprofit organization, Rabata is dedicated to making sure we do our best to connect women and children to their faith and bridge the gap between belief and practice. Women have longed for a relationship with Allah and his Prophet (s) that transcends architectural, cultural, and opportunity-related barriers. Since the idea of Rabata took root in 2012, our growing team has worked tirelessly to fill the critical need that Muslim women and children face today - to provide them the place of hope, joyful faith, and traditional knowledge. 

Rabata provided this for me when I was at one of my lowest points. As a Muslima with a chronic illness, Anse Tamara's guidance, love, and care have lifted me when I thought I could not be lifted. Individuals with Rabata have consistently kept in touch, checked on me when I went silent, sent a message or called…and sent a card just to let me know they cared when things have been difficult. Sometimes it is the little touches here and there that help isolated Muslim women along on this journey in Islam. As a convert to Islam, this support is invaluable. It is worth far more than could ever be raised. There is literally no amount that is too much to raise for this cause, which enables the team at Rabata to keep on doing what they are doing and spreading their wings further and further, offering shade to struggling Muslim women all over the world. Rabata offers the Islamic education so many Muslim women the world over long for….education they can receive in their homes and that centers the experiences of women and what our needs our, and how Islam addresses them. This education is priceless.

When we educate the thousands of Muslim women and children who participate in Rabata programs today, we are cultivating the next generations of believers. Who doesn’t want their great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren to be Muslim? Can we guarantee that will happen? Guidance is in Allah’s hands, but let our hands be at work to preserve people’s path to learning about Him and His deen. 

I have reminders from Rabata all over my home, mashaAllah. And even when I am performing a task that may be considered by many to be mundane, it suddenly isn't when I remember lessons learned from my teachers with Ribaat Academic Institute (Rabata's educational branch). They taught me how to turn nearly anything I am doing into an act of worship and a source of khayr, which turns everyday tasks into treasure. I attached a picture I took after starting a new batch of fermented cabbage. It was made with the intention to be a healing and a source of good for my family and friends…and it was made with love and salawat while cutting the cabbage, making brine, and filling the jars…it was turned into a beautiful act of worship and a source of khayr with the help of Allah.
