SUMMARY

By the grace of Allah swt, the Contra Costa County Muslim community was able to purchase a 14 acre parcel of land in Oakley, CA for $1.2 million. This parcel of land is to be transformed into a premiere and first of its kind community center in the San Francisco Bay Area that will include a 20,000 square foot Masjid, Elderly Care Retirement Home, K-12 Islamic School, Safe House, Auditorium, Dawa Station, and Sports Complex. Slowly, but surely, Rahma Community Center is making progress towards a goal of self-sustaining community center, which will benefit Muslims of Contra Costa County and beyond.

We are in urgent need to pay $50,000 in qardh al-hasan (goodly loan) this Ramadhan. It was through generous donations of people like yourself and others who have made possible the progress thus far. Last Ramadhan we paid $135,000 in qardh al-hasan. With the Blessings of Allah swt and generous contributions of supporters like you, Rahma Community Center can achieve the loan payment due.

Your donations will relieve a debtor and make a self-sustainable community center possible. This will indeed be a Sadaqa Jaria, which will continue to generate rewards in the hereafter. 

We are raising additional funding to finalize master site plans for City Approval. We have worked closely with the City these past few years, revising and refining our plans. We need to submit our final designs for approval so we can obtain all required permits and begin construction inshaAllah.​

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY’s NEED FOR A COMMUNITY CENTER

Rahma Community Center's vision is to fulfill the growing needs of various age groups within the Contra Costa County and beyond by providing high quality elementary through high school education with emphasis on traditional family values, a safe home for emergency cases, quality senior housing, youth center and other resources as needed.

There are currently no K-12 Islamic schools in the Contra Costa County and immediate surrounding areas that are solely built for such purpose. There are a few schools that offer limited grade levels; however, many Muslims would like to live in an area that offers formal Islamic education for all grade levels.

Our children are our future leaders and our most valuable assets.  By the will of Allah swt, we will provide the best education of this world and of the next that will allow our next generations to be outstanding contributors in science, religion, technology, and humanity.

In addition to the school, Rahma will provide numerous benefits to the community:

• Sports Complex: physical activities facilities for all members of the community- male, female, young and old.

• Auditorium/ Meeting Hall: conferences, community events, walima, khatem, and town hall meetings.

• Senior Housing: closing the gap with right care, right environment and right needs of the elderly and families.

• Eid Festival: enjoying Islamic holidays as one community with izzah, dignity.

• Masjid: strengthening community and self bond with Allah swt.

• Da’wa Station: self help and informational center for propagation of Islam.

• Safe House: providing a temporary shelter for Muslims in need, especially ladies.

LOCATION

Our 14+ acre land is located in Oakley, CA on Norely Road between Oakley Road and Elm Lane. The land is next to Highway 4 and within 1.7 miles of BART. It is located in an area with great housing and growth potential and within one mile of Antioch/Oakley’s large shopping/business center.

PROGRESS

Phase 1:  14+ acre land purchased. Preliminary design submitted to the City of Oakley and feedback received. For directions to the land, search for Rahma Community Center (Future Home) in Google Maps.

Phase 2: Pay off short term Qardh Hasan (goodly loan) loans and finalize master site plan for approval. –In Progress–

Thus far, we have seen great support and excitement from the community about this project. We are seeking to raise $150,000 before the end of this ramadhan, inshaAllah, to pay off our qardh al-hasan loans.
